Moving forward on locking down wheel tire / combo for my '94.

Got a single spare right now to see what looks best; looking for thoughts.

Going skinny with steelies. 235-85r16 (Faulken Wild Peak), early 2000s Toyota steelies (-33 offset).

Feel like could go a bit bigger and with my fender flares just doesn't fill it out, but might be just me. Spacers or different offset wheel? Looking for your thoughts and thanks in advance.

Lifted?

If you look at a lot of the Prado photos, you'll see two dominant looks: trucks with fender flares tend to wear the 12.5" wide tires and the narrower trucks without fender flares most often have the 10.5" wide tire. I've seen few examples that deviate. I don't think I've seen a photo to confirm, but I'm guessing the perfect combo of looks and performance would be a 33x10.5 with enough negative offset to move the tire outside similar to a 12.5". I've heard but never confirmed the OEM wheels were a zero offset, so a wheel with a -25 offset would do just that. I guess a 1" spacer would accomplish the same thing if you don't mind running spacers. You mentioned 16" wheels... you can run 15" as many or most of the OEM wheels were 15, but I think you'd find a better tire selection with the 16" version.

Thanks Mr. Grove - seems like you answer this questions once every couple months so appreciate you taking the time to respond.

Makes sense; 33 a bit big for my use - but shifting to a 265 would give it around 11.2in (splits difference more or less). Plus the wheel I do have mounted on is actually +15 offset, so that isn't helping at all. Would rather not have spacers, but between a little width and a more appropriate offset betting I can get this filed out nicely.

Again, thanks - will most back when back in business.

I can confirm that stock alloy wheels on a narrow 78 (no flares) are ET0. The issue I've run into with aftermarket wheels is that they tend to contact the brake caliper or tie rod end if they're not the correct offset.

My current Prado has no flares and looks great with 235/85/16 tires, my last one had flares and looked good with 31x10.5R15 tires but could have gone a little wider too. I tend to prefer the driving (and wheeling) characteristics of narrow tires anyway.

Go big or go home!

LOL. Kidding, but this rig is pretty amazing with portal axles etc. Too bad no one in North America does this sort of thing with 70 series Prados.

For practical daily driver and mild off road, I think 235/85R16 or 255/85/R16 are two of the best sizes for 70 series prados 16" rims. Or 33x10.5R15 on the 15" rims.

Awesome rig! Someday when mine graduates from a daily to a project it'll be a big boi like yours, until then looking like the 255s might be best route. Have one order to see how fits. Appreciate the advice!

The one in those pictures isn't mine. Just thought it was cool is all. Mine runs either 235/85r16 or 35x12.5r15.

Those Rough Country wheels look like what I'm after - any chance of a shot from the front and back to show how that combo looks with the flares?

Here is a few other shots - front; just have the one wheel/tire combo right now to see how looked, if I put on rear will share. Comes right out with start of the flare, which is the look, feel was going for for a skinnier than 10.5s.

All wrapped up on the wheels and tires - thanks again for all the advice: 265/75r16 Wildpeaks with Rough Country 16x8 -12 offset.

Looks like Texas Hill Country in the background. Great tire and wheel combo.
