Hello everyone, I am not new to the forum, but have never posted to HDC section before. I was wondering if anyone local is willing to let me rent or knows some who is willing to rent me their knuckle centering tool. I had to just slap the knuckles on my 62 without adjusting preload, centering, or axle shafts so I can get it out of my garage and to a buddys shop today because I am moving. I am about to start a SBC swap so the truck is just a roller at the moment. I am also interested in join HDC, I went to the web site and everything seems to be old on there. Maybe I went to the wrong site. I used work with an old member John Evaskovitch who moved to Salida CO a few years back. Anyways If anyone has one or knows of one laying around please let me know.

DK

Don't know any John Evaskovitch fella. Do know that Juane Tabascofish dude though . We don't pay attention to the website much since we hang out here. Sorry I can't help with the tool.

Shyster:

I'm not sure how I feel about lending my centering tool to someone who self identifies as such. ;)

I've got one up in my folks' shop, and will be back in town around the end of the month--would that work for you?

Lol, its actually my dogs name and I thought it made a good screen name. I am starting a SBC swap so I can put off finishing the knuckles till then. One question though, I am running six shooter knuckles with trunion bearing eliminators. Do you think the process is the same?

Not sure. What exactly is a grunion bearing eliminator? Does it simply replace the bearing with a bushing?

I would ask whomever sold it to you.

Dan

It replaces the bearing with a kingpin bushing, the races press into the knuckle ball the same way. Trail Gear sells the kit, but I bought the knuckles used and they came with the pins installed. I will give TG a call and see what they recommend.

Hey Mister Shyster. Welcome to HDC.
Glad to hear the project is back in the works.
Why are you rebuilding the knuckles - upgrading to HiSteer? I assume that Carpenter's brother (Never Summer Offroad) stayed with stock steering when he sprung over the 62?

Juane - just now getting caught up - Tobascofish

What's up Juane, no the rig already had HiSteer but a friend of mine had these 6 shooters rolling around the back of his truck after he did a Dana 60 swap on his mini. Got a good deal on them.
