Factory skids bolts, are a great option. Whatever you do, don't use stainless steel.

I agree! Some of mine were shaved off a little bit, some were too short. The kit comes with some steel bolts (I believe 8.4 grade) and they do just fine.Factory skids bolts, are a great option. Whatever you do, don't use stainless steel.
Thanks! It's been a lot of work, but I've learned a ton as I've done everything.Great restoration and build thread! Love the progress you've made and some great info for other owners.
It is a "Dual" brand I found on Amazon for about $260. I know it's not the highest quality, but it does all of the things that I want it to (Android Auto/Apple Carplay) and is a much bigger screen than most others available on the market right now.More details on the upgraded radio would be great.

I used the Metra 70-8112 harness to avoid cutting the main factory harness. Then I ran 4x 8' speaker wires directly from the new headunit down to the amp and then wired the speakers directly to the headunit, bypassing the amp completely. I tried it both ways, this ended up being much better sound quality.Awesome. Did you use an adapter?
I've been working on a couple of little things lately. Got a new 2nd row out of a 2005 junkyard cruiser, the better condition is a plus, but the main purpose here was to add the carseat LATCH system (at least that's what I tell my wife). They were pretty dirty, but after some effort, I'm happy with how they turned out.

The Lexol worked okay. I washed them about 3x before going forward with the conditioner. I then conditioned 3x before letting them see use. The leather is still not as soft as I'd like. I am looking into other conditioning products.

I'm definitely happy with the way these turned out. They look a lot better, it wasn't too hard of a project, and now the carseat(s) are much more solid in their attachment. I'd say its a success all the way around.
I bought an entire new second row out of a newer modelWhat did you use to repair the torn leather on the drivers side rear seat?

What are you guys using to clean the filthy carpets that makes a good difference? It is a lot of work, but the progress is very rewarding!

I used both simple green or oxy clean with a wet rag and would scrub then rinse it frequently. Later I ended up using a carpet cleaner. That worked fine. What are you guys using to clean the filthy carpets that makes a good difference?
Perfect, thank you. I might have to try all of them on mine.....So I am a detailer and for carpets I use a few things. You can use Resolve or Folex or Superior Products Zap It from O'Reilly then use a drill brush to agitate then use a carpet extractor. That is the best method I have found to clean carpet.
They are all 3 great and work very well. I used all 3 a few months ago when I took the seats out of a 2008 4runner that had never had an interior detail and all 3 were amazing. I do like the Resolve a little better because it leaves a nice clean fresh smell.Perfect, thank you. I might have to try all of them on mine.....
