Factory skids bolts, are a great option. Whatever you do, don't use stainless steel.

More details on the upgraded radio would be great.

I agree! Some of mine were shaved off a little bit, some were too short. The kit comes with some steel bolts (I believe 8.4 grade) and they do just fine.

Great restoration and build thread! Love the progress you've made and some great info for other owners.
Thanks! It's been a lot of work, but I've learned a ton as I've done everything.

It is a "Dual" brand I found on Amazon for about $260. I know it's not the highest quality, but it does all of the things that I want it to (Android Auto/Apple Carplay) and is a much bigger screen than most others available on the market right now.

Awesome. Did you use an adapter?

I used the Metra 70-8112 harness to avoid cutting the main factory harness. Then I ran 4x 8' speaker wires directly from the new headunit down to the amp and then wired the speakers directly to the headunit, bypassing the amp completely. I tried it both ways, this ended up being much better sound quality.

I've been working on a couple of little things lately. Got a new 2nd row out of a 2005 junkyard cruiser, the better condition is a plus, but the main purpose here was to add the carseat LATCH system (at least that's what I tell my wife). They were pretty dirty, but after some effort, I'm happy with how they turned out.

Dirty junkyard seats...

The Lexol worked okay. I washed them about 3x before going forward with the conditioner. I then conditioned 3x before letting them see use. The leather is still not as soft as I'd like. I am looking into other conditioning products.

I'm definitely happy with the way these turned out. They look a lot better, it wasn't too hard of a project, and now the carseat(s) are much more solid in their attachment. I'd say its a success all the way around.

What did you use to repair the torn leather on the drivers side rear seat?

Well, that’s one way to repair the seat. lol
Right lol

My main motivation was to gain the LATCH carseat system from the newer models. It ended up being less expensive than up doing the Lseat.com skins like I did for the front seats.

What are you guys using to clean the filthy carpets that makes a good difference?

I used both simple green or oxy clean with a wet rag and would scrub then rinse it frequently. Later I ended up using a carpet cleaner. That worked fine.
I think something like the drill brush would work better though!

Best thing I found for carpets was a small bissel steamer and vacuum. Think it's called a mighty green. Spray water on, agitate with a brush, and remove with the vac.

Great info, guys, thanks for sharing. These carpets look filthy so quickly and cleaner ones make such a big difference. Now I remember again why I never like beige interiors and prefer black interiors.

So I am a detailer and for carpets I use a few things. You can use Resolve or Folex or Superior Products Zap It from O'Reilly then use a drill brush to agitate then use a carpet extractor. That is the best method I have found to clean carpet.
Perfect, thank you. I might have to try all of them on mine.....

They are all 3 great and work very well. I used all 3 a few months ago when I took the seats out of a 2008 4runner that had never had an interior detail and all 3 were amazing. I do like the Resolve a little better because it leaves a nice clean fresh smell.

I will give it a try and see what the results will be. I shall post before and after pics

I need to clean mine too.. Will order the drill brush and see how it works with those 3 chemicals.
