I put the Fox 2.0 105 shocks in the rear cause the old man emu we’re to small. Although having a really nice ride, an smooth feel.. needed a bigger shock to level the truck out... drove to Compton California an went to the headquarters of one of the bigger 4x4 stores an asked about getting a set of Fox 2.0 105 shocks... they were in stock... they fit nicely.. I was going for the 2.5 or so lift an not satisfied with the 1.5-2
But always need to adress that so far it’s working an still needs to be tested on some great trails an rock piles for sure...

Pretty much all aftermarket torsion bars ride the same. It’s the OME shocks that people have reported an extra stiff ride from. Experiencing them myself, they are too stiff.
TJM torsion bars are thicker than the OME and made of softer metal. They ride better bc they have more room for torsion if that makes sense.

Mind sharing where that info could be found?

Spring steel is generally all the same grade of steel, hardened steel with high yield strength so that it is “springy”. Spring rate is then changed through different diameters of the bar when it comes to torsion bars. Different variables for different spring types. There are several grads within the spring steel group (1075, 5160, 9260) but the “hardness” of the metals stay in a pretty close range across the board.

I'd like to know more too...still have my cranked stock TBs at 252,000+ miles...So they are likely in need of retirement

On my third set of ripped cv boots
If your torsion bars are doing good, I’d leave everything alone till you have to turn a wrench :)

Bump. Anyone rocking kings suspension? Took my LC out on the desert, and it kept bottom out. Now looking into kings or icon

Just installed OEM Kings with remote reservoirs and compression adjusters. Deleted the AHC and added SPC UCA's, Slee Diff Drop, OME Rear Springs (medium) and OME Torsion bars. Lift works awesome with Method 305's and 33x12.5x17 BFG KO2's. While I really liked the AHC - it was wearing down. I probably wouldn't have done the lift if it was still on track. That being said..the King's are just kickass. Love 'em!!

Congrats thats the setup i wanti already have the wheels anad tires. How does it compare to stock?

Can you post pics?

I have no experience with Kings but I've got Radflo 2.5 RRs. Customer service is spectacular. Wouldn't say the same about King from the scale and focus of their operations.

Saw front tbs
Radflo
Stock UCA.
Bomb down ungraded gravel roads and my LX feels great and tight.

The stock AHC was always a solid ride. It just would've been the second time I did more maintenance and replacements of parts for it so I did the lift. Over 150k miles so I think it was time.

Resurrecting an older thread......just wanted to see if anyone had any updates/feedback on their King shock setup?

As much as I would love to outfit my rig with front/rear bumpers/drawers/etc., it's more likely than not going to be a stock-ish weight rig. General purpose of the rig will be hunting/fishing, camping with the family and some very mild trails, although at HIH8, the current set up did fine on Black Bear.

With that in mind, I was contemplating upgrading to the OEM King RR shocks front and rear with stock TBs and some sort of light/medium spring in the rear. Would probably also strongly consider installing Trail Tailor UCA and diff drop. My main reason for looking into the King shocks is that the other more common suspension upgrades (Ironman, Tough Dog, OME) seem like they'd be either over-dampened or over sprung for a stock-ish weight cruiser.

I'm currently on an OEM shocks, cranked OEM TBs, Trail Tailor 30mm rear spacers with OEM UCAs and no diff drop. Suspension has about 180k miles on it, and I figure it's time to at least start planning the replacement of some parts.

Any feedback?

Jon

Did you end up getting the Kings?

Haven't made the jump, yet. I'm still evaluating options and trying to really scrutinize my actual use case for the truck, but I've basically narrowed my search down to the following three shock choices, in no particular order:

1. King OEM Replacement remote reservoir, no compression adjustment
2. Ironman Foamcell Pros
3. Tough Dog 41mm Foamcell fronts and 41mm adjustables in the back
4. Tried and true, cheap OEM shocks

Any input from King users would be greatly appreciated. Especially if they've tried any of the other setups for comparison.

Ironman Foam cell pros get my vote. Will be ordering a full kit sometime soon, just waiting for discounts

I am in the same boat.. Last cruiser I had OME and was too stiff for me. I dont off road the rig as much so trying to figure out what is the best bang for the buck
