First I searched already and found only posts on missing key screws.

So the battery in the key is dying out and I found that I couldn't unscrew it - tried a tiny drop of penetrating oil as well, no luck. Any suggestions?

Also, I suppose I can still start the engine and drive even with a dead battery in the key? I thought the battery was just for the remote wireless control.

Buy @suprarx7nut Titanium Key Fob and you will never run into this issue again, nor will you ever break your key ever again! Order tonight and never look back:cheers:

Thanks for the reference! @TheForger

The key should work as the transceiver in the ignition transmits a signal, the key itself is passive. The remote needs that battery power, but the key battery shouldn't affect the immobilizer.

I'd break apart the remote shell and key and use vice grips to get the screw out without damaging the female threads in the key. Then get a YotaMD key (see links in my sig or The Forger's post above) and solve it for good. :)
