I have read all the threads regarding wiring and upgrading trailer wiring when installing a Kaymar rear bumper. I have not been able to find and have not seen in any of the threads a receptacle for trailer plugs that will fit in the Kaymar holder. The Kaymar holder is very shallow (see pic) and any receptacles I have found are too deep for it.

Has any one found a receptacle that works or what other solutions have you come up with (other than letting the wires dangle)?

Not what I wanted to hear. I'll be in the same situation when my Kaymar bumper arrives. I'll follow this thread with great interest.

Steve-O - any suggestions or thoughts from Man-a-Fre?

Here is the solution the previous owner of my 94LC did with the kaymar bumper.

Its the round style connector, and is mounted on the drivers side of the hitch.
I hadn't even noticed the other bracket hanging down until you just put that pic up. So I went out in this lovely weather to check and snap a quick pic. I don't have any trailers or anything, so it won't be used for a while. And I have to figure out what they did since the tail lights in the bumper don't light up either.
( I think I saw some cut wires and a few things disconnected too)

Yeah it is kind of shallow. I have seen people bend, remount, drill..... As far as which one will bolt right in? I will look around. I will get back to you. Thanks, Steve.

Personally I wouldn’t mount anything there unless you'll only be driving on pavement. The very first time I took the Cruiser out with the new bumper I bent the tab. Now I just bend it back after every trip off pavement anticipating that the tab will eventually snap off.

You da man - thx!

I bought one of those nice 7 pin cannon plugs that are waterproof and drilled a nice big hole right through the rear face of the bumper and threaded four holes to bolt it in there. That way it doesn't hang down and get trashed. Also the recepticle fits between the bumper and the rear crossmember nice and protected. I'm in FL right now but can post pics this weekend if anyone wants.

Growing up in Nebraska we saw a fair bit of salt on the roads...looks like Gary in Ohio is seeing the same. To keep the plug clean and no rust from eating your bracket, you might consider running your pigtail out from the inside.

On our old Corolla we had it run from the inside of the trunk. When you needed it you just pulled it out and closed it in the trunk lid. Obviously not the best thing for the wires but it keeps it out of the way for wheeling and rusting.

Yes, I thought about that as well. You may notice that mine has a slight bend in it from getting through a deep gully in the woods.

Thanks for taking a look around for us.

If you don't mind Rick - I'd love to see what that looks like. The thought of doing exactly what you've done has crossed my mind. Don't have to worry much about salt and rust in SoCal.

I was going to check around tomarrow, but I saw all these posts tonight. To be honest, I agree with Rick as well, and Echo. The bumpers are designed for off-roading, but not everyone needs a trailer harness. I imagine Kaymar put it underneath so it wasnt in the middle of the bumper lookin' ugly for people who didnt want it. Same thing with the tire carriers, you have to drill to mount it, nut not everyone runs either of the carriers. Good luck, I will send an e-mail down under and see if they reccomend a harness that fits, they had to base the bracket off of something. :D Thanks, Steve.

Did you hear anything back from the folks down under?

That bracket looks like it it is for the large style plug that is used on trucks.
They fit flush on the outside of the bracket not through the bracket. The hole in the centre would be for the cable not for the plug to pass through.

Sounds like a 7-pin. Pics, if any would be helpful. Thanks for the down under feedback!

No problem taking a photo for you but I'm don't know how to post them.

Pretty easy to post one up. Res must be no more than 800x800 if I remember correctly, reply to the thread and there's a box to insert a pic. System will tell you if the image is to large.

Thanks for that I have taken the pics but need to resize them i will post them asap

Are there any instructions to follow to post pics
