Thinking of a body lift but unsure of the effects on the stock steering box Can anyone help me there?

Also getting compression test as the 3b lacks power, did tappits yeasterday but no difference  It seems to miss when i change into 3rd gear and apply throttle.

Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Nice cruiser.. show some Snorkel side pics and engine bay too..

Regarding lack of power.. start from filters.. any smoke issues ? starting trouble?

A fine rig.

With the 3B are you sure it is not a BJ-46?

I have a 44 and I thought they were all 2B.

I am swapping in a 3B, but remember they are only 97 horsepower.

You need a turbo kit for more, but only if your compression numbers show your engine is still solid.

Best and Welcome!

T

I too am curious about your 3B comment. Like Tobash, as far as I know all BJ44's came with a 2B, then the BJ46 came out with the 3B. I also notice there are no mirrors on your fenders. I definitely dig the red stripe. More pics please!

Looks like in the first pic you have 33" tires on? My 3B powered 40 is very slow with 33"s and no turbo. I'm in the process of turboing it now.

Hi thanks for the comments guys,

It is a 44 just had a 3b re-power by the previous owner, filters are near new and i clean them and blow out snorkel almost every weekend. :)

Doesn't blow any smoke what so ever and starts first pop after glow but farts around for about 5 seconds when frosty.

It burns oil and smoke comes out the crank case breather.

I also was thinking of turbing mine but i am unsure of how to plumb up the inline pump ( Dont they need the vacume )? :hhmm:

Will post snorkel and engine bay photos tomorrow.

Yes they need the vaccum for the brakes and the Tcase.
Not sure what you are asking about the inline pump plumbing?
What years is it.
What country are you from dont recognize the plates.
Is it RHD cant tell from the pics.
Welcome to the 44 club.

Yes you need the oil for the vacuum pump on the alternator. You can pull your oil feed line for the turbo from many other places on the engine. There are many threads on turbo installs on Mud. I will post up mine when I'm finished. I think the cheapest turbo build I have seen was around $400 and they range to $2500 ish.

Body lifts are generally not preferred on Mud but I'm not familiar with the 44 mwb chassis so I don't have info on lifted spring choices.

It burns oil and smoke comes out the crank case breather.

Smoke from the breather is blowby which might indicate loss of compression. Plus the burning oil I suspect ring damage. I have a 3B that has the same problems.

But I plumbed the breather back into the intake so I don't have to smell it. :hillbilly:

cool....what color is it? LOL

Hi guys, Im in New Zealand and it is a rhd
Im planning to restore it and maybe raise it 2 inches or so and just use it for club trips and mucking around 4x4ing with mates,
And its black for those of you that cant tell ;)
Photos of a turbo setup would be much appreciated.

Cheers guys!

Get a ct26 turbo an manifold off a 13bt engine an bolt that on. Thatll get it going. Would be better to get some sort of boost compensator fitted to the fuel pump aswell but not entirely necessary
