hoping to get my soon but thinking now that it may be a bit delayed due to cruise moab.

nutter, looks like you are just using a tie down strap to hold your maxtrax on? are they locked on there somehow as well?

I've been back in forth in email with him as well for placing an order, he did mention that he'd be out of pocket during cruise moab.

i'm also working on placing an order. i'm curious about people's experience w/ and w/o the floor grid. anybody regret not having a grid floor?

thanks

Wondering the same about the full grid. I can only think of large things I will be mounting up top for now but that could very well change.

I ordered the grid. After some thought, I remembered the times strapping things to OEM racks with a skinny rocket box also on the rack and how much it was a pita dealing with straps under the box to secure the loose stuff next to the box. The grid should take care of that "issue" for me.

looks good. why the upside down rail on the front of the rack? what is the thinking behind having it upside down?
thanks

The thought is that it can be used as a grab handle to make accessing the rack easier.

for me its still being able to pull into parking decks and my garage , every inch counts when you also want to run bigger tires.

@nakman any interest in making mounts for your racks that will support the Alu-Cab Shadow awning? I've had a shadow sitting on the floor of my shop for about a year and a half now!

Yeah sure, can you send me some pics? email is best.

We did one like this recently, just turned our mounts sideways and drilled another hole. Not sure it was an Alu Cab though wasn't looking that close... but it was an aluminum box!

What do you need photos of? The issue is that because the SHADOW doesn't have any legs there is a large amount of stress on the rear mounting point.

I love the quick release mounts you make, and have enjoyed having them for my smaller ARB awning, but the SHADOW would need something a good bit more substantial.

There are some good photos of the awning and the attachments in this thread: Alu-Cab Has Landed In The USA! - Page 14 - Expedition Portal

See you in a few weeks!

@nakman not sure if you remember but this is the same awning I was asking you about just before Cruise Moab. We talked about me buying it and having it shipped to you to come up with some mounts but I think you decided you were too busy at the time to take that on.

There's another current rack owner on Expo who already has a Shadow and was hoping to find mounts. So sounds like you'd have at least three sales!

Sounds like a plan.

I obviously won't have the awning with me unless I ship it out to you prior to the event, but I'm sure we can come up with something brilliant!

I know this is an old thread, but I just wanted to give a quick update on my Gamiviti rack. After 8 years of hard service, one of the mounting brackets broke while I was in Death Valley last month. I zip-tied it in place to keep it from rattling and completed the trip fine.

When I got back, I emailed Gamiviti, and they sent out a replacement free of charge the next day. The new mount is a lot beefier and I am back in business. That's the service you get when you buy from a quality vendor. Still loving my rack, thanks @nakman!
