I need some help guys. The LX is currently getting a PPI done by Toyota. Maintenance history is very good but the pictures of the undercarriage I got didn't show how much rust there is. Interior and body are clean with no rust that I can see but I'm worried about the undercarriage and frame. What do you guys think? Is this the one? Or do I fly back to NJ

Holy cow....that's unfortunate. Like yourself, I'm currently shopping for another 100 and am willing to take a flight to go pick up. I would walk away from this and just chalk it up to a lesson learned. While doing my shopping, I'm focusing my search to the south and the west. I cross off my list any vehicle I see from the northeast & rustbelt for the very reason you post here.

wowsers, that looks horrible. Does everyone's Cruisers look like this out East? Just fly to the West Coast next time, I see dozens of them for sale every year.

eeewwwww....

No way I would want to wrench on that truck, but I'm spoiled in So Cal

nope...pass. Even if you will one day have rust, I would rather start with a clean truck. Can't believe that pictures did not show that.

If I bought that i would be kicking my self all the way home. Then the wife would proceed to kick my ass too.

But, yeah, lesson learned. ALWAYS ask for several pics of undercarriage and any other place they dont put pics of. This a cheap mistake to what could have been...

That's terrible. They shouldn't of wasted your time. Time to keep searching for another one if you ask me.

If it's pricey - it's an easy decision ..walk away

if it's an absolute bargain then we should know more

What are the facts on the truck -what is the year, mileage and maintenance history and ultimately what is the asking price and because of the rust is there room for serious negotiation

Hope you already have your return ticket. Seriously just find another one - you don't want to get stuck with that. A few months ago I flew to Oklahoma with a check in hand (and a return plane ticket in the other hand), and I turned around and came home 2 hours after landing because the deal wasn't right.

Thank you guys so much from the bottom of my heart wallet!!!

It really hurt when I took a look at the undercarriage. There seemed to be a gap in the service history between the last owner 12/13 until 6/15 when the the was bought by this dealer. When I requested pictures of the undercarrige I got a quick snap of it that showed SOME rust but it looked to be in decent condition. The interior was immaculate and the maintenance was almost perfect. It was serviced every 5k on time with timing belt and water pump done. I was chomping at the bit as it seemed perfect but thanks to you guys I have saved hours and time wasted in the future.

This whole thread happened in REAL TIME. After the first 5 or so responses I quickly made up my mind and decided to fly home. Thank you again to everyone here on Ih8mud, you guys saved the day.
