Just drove an LX600 F-sport

Killed a tire yesterday. Front passenger. Sudden blow out at 70mph, hard to tell exactly what happened since the tire sidewall shredded with me hobbling at 5mph (was only 2 miles from my house). Vehicle remained stable the whole time. Sudden emergency message on screen to check the tire pressure when it occurred.

15k miles on the tires. Looks like I've got about half the tread to the first wear markers, so now have to decide about replacing all four or just one.

Just change the front 2 wheels.

Oof.. glad you're ok. Was the wheel damaged at all? Definitely a good excuse to get some bigger tires and keep the other 3 as spares or sell them.

Wheel not damaged, grateful.
Just ordered some Michelin Defender LTX. Have them on my wife's GX. Tolerable off road, great on road in the rain, snow/ice, highway.

This is the tire and size the LX should come with stock. Fills out the wheel wells, no rubbing, much more planted ride. 4-5% decrease in speedometer reading (says 70mph when going 73.5mph).

Very happy. If I didn't have an Ineos Grenadier on the way for the adventure rig, I'd have put bfg KO2's here, but this is going to be my daily back and forth to the hospital rig.

Looks awesome! I hate how the stock tires make it look like the LX missed leg days at the gym haha.

Have put a couple hundred miles on these 275/65/R20 Michelin Defenders, load range D. A couple observations:
-marginal gas mileage decrease, from 22 highway to 20.5, probably more calculation adjustment than actual loss.
-transmission shifting issue from 2nd to 1st "thunk" is pretty much gone. Can feel it shifting slightly more prominently in that scenario, but it is 95% improved. Transmission gating feels ideal, vehicle feels more "planted" and stable, though it felt that way to start with.

Very, very happy with this size and tire.

What is the original size of the tire?

I am going to test-fit my 295/70/18 Yokohama MTs on Volk TE37 wheels sometime next week for s***s and giggles (waiting for a proper lift kit for the LX). I'm sure it's going to rub like crazy!

I may bite the bullet and buy the Michelin Defenders for winter, while I wait for a lift kit. The Dunlop Grantrek PT5A's that came stock does not look like they will fair well in snow/ice.

What offset are the TEs?

255/65/R20. Roughly 30 inches in diameter.
275/60/R20. Roughly 33 inches in diameter.

A 600 ships on 255s?!?
Boy aint no way no boai

Something doesnt sound right here, then you had a blowout?

EDIT:

Wait are you the same dude i was arguing with months back about how you get 24mpg?
Im not sure who that was.

Was not aware of the wastegate issue, but as far as I am concerned it is a lemon if it happens to anyone's Tundra. One write up mentioned having to separate the cab from the bed. No vehicle is ever "right" after that much disassembly. There is no one who will take to time to get every nut and bolt back in place much less all of the other stuff that cushioning, rubber pieces, etc. The truck to me is worthless at that point.
That's nonsense.

Your typical Toyota dealer has performed hundreds of frame replacements on Tacomas and Tundras. Heck, even my '03 4Runner had a frame replacement and everything worked afterwards.

Truck bodiess are only mounted to the frame in about 8 places. The engine, transmission, differentials, and suspension components also have a limited number of connections to the frame, and dealers are well acquainted with removing and installing engines, transmissions, differentials, and suspension components.

This isn't like trying to replace the body shell on a unibody vehicle. It is a great deal simpler. It's a good bit of work, but only around 40 hours on my '03 4Runner.
