so today i replaced my

fuel pressure regulator p# 23280-75010 $100

1 - remove 2 hoses (i used a curved needle nose pliers to remove the bottom hose clamp the bottom hose is a little tougher to pull off) no fuel came out of it after removing

2 - 17mm wrench to brake loose the nut wasnt on tight - then unscrew the fuel pressure regulator thats it -

my truck has a 130000 miles on it and for awhile ive been getting p0420 code - black tail pipe and the truck just didnt seem right wasnt strong taking off or smooth i felt like but was really hard to tell because it felt fine at a cruising speed - ive cleared the code so will update if the light returns - i had already replaced both o2 sensors and gaskets - but never helped --

now i feel the truck runs like a normal vehicle again - smooth taking off like it really has a engine again -- so wanted to let others know or give others a heads up - im sure this is posted many times

It is always awesome when it is something easy!

@hward1 Did you troublenshoot and zero in on the FPR or was it a shot in the dark?

Does the O-ring come with the regulator?

hm I've been having a similar feeling lately where the truck just doesn't get off the line and get up to speed like it did 6 months ago. No codes, it just seems to be losing steam.

Maybe I'll try this

as always shot in the dark but also read around on here in some of the hidden places that lead to no where ha - yes it comes with a oring - not sure about the cats mine has never gotten red hot as they say could be clogged some not sure i will update if any changes are made - i need to get a smog check just to see maybe -

maybe one day I'll suck it up and replace this and either clean or replace my fuel pump relay

maybe even replace my fuel filter if I'm feeling especially productive

Well, I tried replacing mine with 23280-75010 last night and could not get it to fit. It would not thread on. It was the strangest thing. The old one threads on no problem. The new one would not got past one turn or so. I quadruple checked it for cross threading and it is not. Tried both in my thread checker and they both thread into a M12x1.25. I tried using some pliers to screw the new one in and I ended up denting the side of 23280-75010. It’s an oem part so I’m totally confused how it’s not threading onto the fuel rail. I installed the old one back in for now.

A follow up on this. I bought the supposed oem part off ebay. It was a fake. I ordered another one from a reputable company and it installed no problem.
