Ali's camping thread reminded me that we scheduled a Father's Day camping trip like last years. we had a great time last year, so I'm looking forward to it.

I usually go up early with my family. last year I ham radioed our coordinates back to town and it worked great. we can do the same again. I'd like to set up tentatively here-
35.9694
-106.7239
that should be just off 126 near fr117.

I could't make last year but hope for this one. Is that location similar to last time? Good or bad?

last year was on Paliza. this new location should be easier with stock vehicles to reach. mostly regular old forest roads, but for some reason, we've spent 4 days there before and heard 1 vehicle the whole time. lots of space to spread out.

anyone else interested? I will be there regardless. :D

I am interested.

Maybe, what days will it cover?

...what days will it cover?

I have to look at my work schedule again, but I usually go up on Tues or Wed. the rest can meet us which day you want. I'll ham radio the GPS coords to town and someone can post them with directions. makes it easy to find and you can pick your days to be there.

Jill and I are familiar with the spot we are suggesting and want to see if the area has any fire damage from last year. it is great for a large group. I am open to suggestions if anyone has a spot they really prefer.

I'm interested as well. Is this area restricted as to campfires?

I'll look it up. it may be, I know Bernalillo County is under a burn ban. it is in the Santa Fe NF.

It isn't right now, but who knows by then? I'll be up on Weds prolly.

We are interested....
:)

And I promise to slow down going through Jemez pueblo if you guys are gonna follow me again. ;)

I'm gonna have to bail. I'll just have gotten home from a trip and will be leaving on another one in two weeks after Fathers Day. Maybe net year.

I just spent the weekend up near here (intersection of roads 103 and 316 Tea kettle rock area). It is green and a bit fresh at night but very dry and dusty. It would have been to have a camp fire. The lack of water has concentrated the wild life near water sources making viewing easier.

Vince:cheers:
