That was a nasty spot in that first pic WCT posted. It's the same spot where the buggy ended up flopping in the pic he posted over in the round-up thread. Had Pat not walked up there to help I would have probably ended up in a bad bind.

I'll post a brief Mardi Krawl ride report before Grogan gets upset:
It was a little wet when we got there and wheeled Thursday afternoon. It rained its ass off Thursday night, so it was a muddy mess Friday and Saturday. I had s*** for traction. The truck ran well, the steering hung in there and gave my no problems, and we had blast; however, I went zero for six on the hard obstacles I attempted. I couldn't crawl up anything. The few things I did make it up/over I had to bounce it and get the wheel speed way up there, and I almost flopped on Viper Friday afternoon. Good times.
Typically I don't have any pictures to post, but Ginny took a ton on this trip. I won't bore y'all with them, but I will post these three - not just because I think they are cool shots of a twisted up 40 in the mud, but also because one shot is a clue to a chronic, sometimes scary, problem I've been having:
Occasionally, when the truck fully flexes, the throttle will open on its own and the engine will rev pretty high...sometimes to the point where I have to kill it. It happened here when easing down this trail. I killed it, and we decided this was as good a time as any to take a look at it. I wanted to check the throttle cable to make sure it wasn't getting pinched and/or yanked. Everything looked good. The cable was free, and the throttle appeared to be rotated back to the idle position. Oh well...carry on.
Looking back through the pictures, I think the third one above might hold the clue. You can see where the hood is very much misaligned from everything beneath it. Normally, the panels, bib, etc are fairly well aligned. My thottle cable is routed via a bracket that is bolted to the firewall, and it pulls to the driver side when the pedal is pressed.
I'm pretty sure that bracket would move in the same plane as the hood...OR, it would remain stationary with the hood assuming all the pieces below the hood twisted/shifted to the passenger side with the truck flexed like this. Either way, the net effect would be the same - movement of the firewall and hood towards the driver side or the movement of the frame and motor towards the passenger side would result in the throttle being opened.
I think I need to permanently attach this bracket to the motor so it moves in the same plane with it vs. with the firewall.

That should isolate it better.
Frame flex. You can put more cage tie ins but all SOA 40s do it. Low the pics. Bad ass.
Don't let JT fool ya . His rig did great. Everyone had issues with the slicked up rock.
