That granite finds a weak spot better than any terrain I've ever wheeled

Took out my tcase at K1.. Runnin Worn out toyos then too.. No stickies. Trying to follow Cobberly in his 45 on 80 chassis.. Back tires Slipped off a ledge and bang. Rear output .. Gone. Miss that place
 
Almost. Hoses and fluid is left on JT's. Chris's is done.
 
Yall gonna love ram assist.. Your junk will turn no matter what.. Front locker. Scoff.. Rock in the way.. Meh.. Can you say excavator.?. Or knuckle crack ; )

The cool thing about Krawler Reds is they work better and better the more they get worn.

The leading edges will sluff off like crazy and you will freak out.

Swap sides after each trip to change the edge and it increases the life a ton.

Right rear to left front. Mix in the spare.

You need to put a cooling fan on your ARB compressor so it don't fry airing up my tire elentybillion times!
Hopefully it's fixed, had it vulcanized & it was holding air before I left…..if not, I'm bringing a spare or 4.
 
I'm pretty happy with how the truck worked at K2.

For the first time ever the steering actually performed as expected. Several of the thunder talkers suggested hydro assist from the beginning of this thread, but I, always needing to figure out s*** the hard way, chose to run without it at first. As a result, I have fought steering issues from day one. In general, the steering is noticeably tighter with the ram, but the consistency is amazing. The force required to turn the wheels in the garage is the same force required to move the entire front end of the rig over while pivoting off a boulder. One handed, at idle, with very little effort.

Plus (and I may be dreaming this up), there appears to be considerably less stress on the frame while turning. Before adding the ram, the front end of the truck at the frame horns would torque quite a bit when the steering was in a bind; for the most part, that is gone now. In my mind this makes sense as the gearbox is leveraging the end of the frame horn to push/pull the drag link. With the ram assisting by pushing/pulling the tie rod, the gearbox is having to exert far less force on the frame itself.

This is probably one of the best mods made throughout the build...I hope the pump holds out.

The tires worked very well also, but, to be honest, I've never wheeled in the granite at K2 with my old tires, so I can't make a fair comparison. I aired them down to 7lbs on the first day with intentions of adjusting as I got a feel for them, but I ended up leaving them like that all week...seemed to work fine. My old tires/wheels would spin in a lot of situations, but I didn't notice much of that that at all on this trip. So, was it the granite, or was it the tires? My guess is that it was a little bit of both.

Big thanks to Georg and Charles for letting me tag along with the big rigs a couple of times and for spotting me on a few trails. Thanks, too, to Bossman for spotting me and hanging in there with me while I tempted fate on Hannibal Lector.

Also, a special thanks to Pat for putting up with my severe inexperience and letting me follow the two buggies around for the better part of two days. We got into all kinds of nasty s***. He has the patience of Job, and, as a result, I learned a WHOLE lot about my rig. Pat, sir, you are the man!
