Finally went ahead and ordered the $999 full front/rear disc brake conversion kit from JT for my ‘63 FJ40. Even though it’s listed for 8/70 - 9/75, JT said it would work with some slight mods and if I didn’t have riveted rims (which I didn’t). Also bout the u-bracket for mounting the master to get past the firewall rib. Ordered a mini-truck booster too. So had to do a couple of things - make a longer master rod, do some grinding in the calipers, and machine the front rotors, 9mm to 10mm line adapters, and put some longer wheel studs in. Love it!!

Have it on one of our cruisers. Love them. Done most CO trails. Holds up well
 
for the master rod, I used this on my 69 The threading is correct and it's plenty strong for boosted brakes. Not sure about straight manual ones.
