shush you are making some progress.....keep it up so you can get out there faster to dent something.

that is the fun part.

my fuel filler neck will be here this week...then im driving her regadless of outside paint progress:D

How do you get it in the wrong order if you are using a plug?

I guess I wasn't clear. Yes the 4 wires for the wipers are in a plastic plug, but I have to remove them from said plug to work the wires through the windshield so I can remove it. the plug itself is bigger than the hole where the wires run through the windshield frame. I have found some really good post on rebuilding windshield wipers but nothing on how to release those little metal pins at the end of each wire.

see my picture above of the plastic plug.

What you read was that I haven't gotten it loose yet, but know I need to label each when removing from the plastic plug so they go back in the right hole.

You read 3 threads then post 2 new ones.

Sorry Josh, couldn't help it. Keep up the good work.

I have actually read ALOT of threads, but I think im doing pretty good at not annoying yall....UNLESS you come in my thread!!:flipoff2:

I think he has finally got it!

Remember the old saying you have 2 ears and one mouth. you should listen twice as much as you talk...
:)

40 is coming along nicely!

the best way to stay motivated and to understand why you are doing all this is to drive it around for a little bit , then put it back in the garage and do some more work for a little bit and then repeat. keep it up!

Thanks Lenny! yeah my motivation for the past week was Andy and his wife riding over in his fj with jackets on (no top or doors) to look at my finished interior and for our wives to chat baby stuff

watching them drive off re-engergized me. I think ill have it running by this weekend and hopefully blaze the trail into my first paint job!

one of the things i loved about my first 4x4 is where it took me. I am not talking about over obstacles, different trails, or different states. while all those things are fun, thats not what I'm talking about.

When I first got it I didn't know anything. I am talking nothing. I didn't understand how the thing even started or why i needed to turn those dials on the front wheels, nothing.

But now, by having it, I was "forced" to learn about how it all works. I've gained so many different skills, like basic mechanics, welding, fabrication, etc. I would have never thought i would have gained so much just by owning a 4wd.

Now it has afforded me a great bunch of friends to share great experiences with.

I never thought a vehicle(s) would have such a profound influence on my life.

Enjoy the trail ahead.

I plan to cut the wires where the windshield meets the cowl and install plugs so I can easily release the windshield frame without having to open up the wiper motor cover and disassemble the OEM plug.

Lash and Nolan.....my plug is way bigger than the small hole on the windshield itself but maybe I can come up with something. I wasn't thinking outside the box though so you have given me some good ideas to pursue....I like both -- stuffing it and recreating a new disconnect...thanks:hhmm:

I just unplugged mine and stuffed the plug in the hole on the cowl. I think I slightly enlarged the hole on the cowl.

Mine fit through the hole. Take off the wiper motor.:wrench:

drool......

hope I come out this nice

so I saw a poster's quote on another forum and realized it was my philosophy "leave no thread un 2cents-ed" pretty funny

thanks for the advice on the wiper wires....I got the wiper wire through the cowl and am now trying to get my windshield hinge pins to come out.....the windshield rotates great, but the pins have elevendee billion coats of paint, which is why I want to do it right..not on the truck. kroil is working now after removing 8 paint layers.

Also Andy came over and we did some work on his truck, rode in his 40 to get mine a new battery, reinstalled my fuel neck parts, put the passenger seat, center console in and then it cranked......

and immediately died and we started trouble shooting.......still no remedy

talk about let down, but ateast I got to listen to eddie vedders voice in my truck.......the cd player from Jon (PO) is amazing and is super fancy.....has 3 color lights and a neat display.....hopefully CLC can see it Tuesday at our meeting if it's running.

Update?

ok here is the deal

Andy and I put gas in it, cranked it a few minutes to get the fuel pump working, it pulled the fuel just fine and cranked up.....ran a few minutes and then died bc it needed gas.

I went and got some, put 2.5 gallons in and it idled for about 10 minutes then died.

I got in, cranked it and gave it gas...it cranked then immediately died....we repeated this about 10 times, the more gas I gave it the quicker it died. As it died we heard air expelling from the top of the carb.

I just went outside, after it sat for a few hours and it won't crank...it turns over, but it's like it isn't getting fuel...i tried pumping the skinny pedal and still nothing.

Recall the history of a new fuel pump and I have just put the tank, all new lines from filler neck to tank, and a new filler neck in it yesterday.

totally clueless now. We tried dialing in the fuel regulator but it didn't work on 2 or 5.....I am wondering with the stock pump and not the electric if I need to adjust the carb??

not sure but pretty frustrated right now....I just cursed it and came inside to start researching on mud...any ideas are welcome.

" air expelling" as the motor dies is an indication that you have a timeing issue. Hard start when warm indicates possible valve issues. I confess I have not read the whole thread but have you done a compression check? When was the last time it was running?

timing issue is a posibility, its not so much a hard start when warm as no start so i checked for fuel delivery and carb is getting fuel ok. haven't done a compression check it's on the list....just never done one before....remember im new!

it was running about 3 weeks ago and has not been cranked since as it had the fuel system gutted from tank to carb, new fuel filters, new lines (except on frame rail), new fuel pump, tank is 2 years old, new fuel filler neck, lines, etc etc.

I am ready to do this to the damn truck and collect insurance money:mad:

well ok that was a joke, but I could dial it in tonight and then roll it down the driveway on fire??

hmmmmmfull coverage........im calling USAA because I pretty much have no idea how to fix my issues.

im reading tech and threads now and there are about 400 things to check im starting with learning about and doing the timing

do that before he gets busy on boats...

Call me if you resort to needing Myron. Pretty sure he is too busy for auto work though. Have you pulled the supply side line off while you are cranking to see if you are getting fuel? Can you pour fuel in the carb and keep it running?
