In the midst of installing Jowett’s cap and doing oil change. Support tube has been transferred. It’s pretty loose with the tabs down. Won’t come out, but wobbles. Am I missing something?

The spring?

Along those lines, anyone have any input as to if you run the TRD filter, is there any point to transferring the tube given the filters rigid construction compared to basic OE filter? I think the chance of it collapsing on itself is zero.

Not the spring, just the support tube. Spring not reused.

You could probably run w/o the perforated section, but the lower piece with tabs and bypass valve must be in there.

If the fumoto valve fails for some reason, can it be removed and the original plug be used as temporary fix?

Yes, the stock drain plug w/ a 20mm crush washer will seal it.
