Get it Stan. This should be fun.

Was just looking into these the other day... Too many options to choose from

This truck is getting the LS3/4L65E combo with a 60 series split case, twin sticks and manual hubs. Very reliable combination with plenty of power. The split case gives you true 2WD/4WD and the twin sticks give you 2WD low range option. Manual hubs unlock everything so only the hubs are spinning up front.

Brand new LS3 and tranny or used? Do you mind me asking what the engine swap is going to run you? I got a quote to do the same and it was 18k for a used LS3 and tranny with under 25k miles. It was too much for me. I also live in WA and everything is expensive as hell here.

This truck is getting a new crate Connect & Cruise combination from GM Performance. I am doing the swap in my shop for a customer.

18K for a used LS3 and trans swap is cheap, and under 25K miles is real cheap. That motor and trans alone sells for $8-9K currently because I have been looking. My parts alone including trans and motor would be close to that $18K. Then again I do not use existing radiator, gauges, shifter, fuel lines, trans cooler,PS cooler etc etc. Radiator, fans and gauges alone run $2,400.00

The drive line is out! Clean up time is upon us. Lots of sand in this trucks frame rails.

This is my dream swap

Subscribed. I've seen a few of your builds over the years. When I strike it rich, I'm going to send you a 60 to doll up for me

Axles are being rebuilt and the engine bay has been cleaned up a bit. Almost all of the drive line parts have arrived as well. GM has been shut down and getting Connect & Cruise packages and other crate motors is getting dicey.

This mess is what was behind the radio and spreading though the truck like an octopus.

still truckin' on 5 years into my 6.0 never missed a beat :)

The 80 series frame is a bit tight to fit the standard LS3 front drive set up so I went with the Holly set up with the AC up high. I like it. Mating up the trans and motor goes much smoother with a couple load levelers. Looks right at home in Jolly, an 80 series.

Electrical work on older vehicles always presents obstacles. I wire everything I do separate from the OEM system as a stand alone electrical system. This panel fits up under the dash to the left of the steering column. IGN and dash light power are created by the two relays. They use BATT power and are fired by tapping into the OEM IGN circuit and dash lights. SO only mili amps are taken from the OEM circuits rather than Amps for all the add ons.

I often see folks doing swaps building a complete new cross member, have not built one myself yet. The OEM cross member is plenty strong and just requires being adapted to the new isolator position. There are two vertical supports between the two shown along with the two tube sections.
