The good part is it looks like not just your only rig - insurance companies know time usually is on their side for single vehicle owners who need to move forward in life.

If you look like you can dig in & wait, you may have to but they can't force you to take a price. Besides, using same / similar ads from here to support a value will get you max $$

If the wreck is the other person's fault, I doubt their company wants to lowball you - that "stiff neck & back pain" might flare up if they drag their feet. The ex was a agent, dinner talk sometimes were stories of that sort of thing.

Depending on what USAA says (i.e., I can't get it back to 100%) I won't take anything through them and go through Geico (driver at faults insurance) and raise hell.

The longer you can drag it on thru fiscal quarter to quarter the more they'll come around as they hate carrying claims on the books for too long.
Dig in and learn to use the word "NO" frequently when speaking to them.

So just dump it in my driveway for a bit? I like that idea.

Some like to leave it in a yard to let the insurance company incur storage charges and motivate them further to settle, personally I'd feel better where I could keep my eye on it but maybe that's because I'm just really attached to my pig!

I get $6459.19 if I keep it, so obviously I'm going to do that.

Shop quoted $2000 in email to "get it so you could move it, no body work" -- a new front axle ($1000) is part of that, but I am otherwise unclear on whether that means "drivable" or just so that they can roll it out of their bay where it's currently stuck. Needless to say, I need to figure out what's actually included there.

Presuming that means drivable condition w/ new control arms/needed steering linkages, I'm happy with that number. From there I'm going to drive it for a bit and determine wtf to do in due course.

If it tracks and still drives well, I plan to:

1) Get body work pounded out (so hood opens) and hydraulic ram ARB (also so hood opens). Guessing $500
2) Replace corner marking light. Guessing $100

That leaves me with around $3800. I'll throw $1,000 at tires and just leave it as-as from there most likely.

$8377.69 from Geico if I keep it. Boom. I should be able to pocket almost $5000, even after tires/wheels.

That seems pretty fair. Close to, or more than you paid for the truck perhaps?

I paid 11. USAA valued the truck at $7,850 and change and GEICO at $8,527.69. Big difference was the salvage bid for USAA was $1400 and the one for GEICO was $150 lol.

Wow that is quite the diff, wonder why?

Can you detail a bit how you got them to go from $6459.19 to $8377.69? This situation is my worst nightmare and I like to do the mental legwork in advance if anything should happen.

He did, 2 posts previous to yours...

Oh I didn't realize that was it. Carry on.

No clue, honestly. My guess is that was just what the bid was, took them awhile to get one. Not complaining though.

Check should be in the mail today (finally). Axle is in the shop, as are control arms and proper bushings. Much closer to getting it on the road... 1 month later.

The bad:
No go on the check... apparently I need to wait until I have a title in my name rather than just a signed one.

The good:
It's driving. Should be able to swoop it today or early next week and get to work.

The Ugly:
I regd in WI, the LC is in Texas... going to be awhile for the title.

Ugh...that's a perfect storm for a test in patience!

Yeah, and it's not like I could let it sit in their shop without letting them work on it, so I'm on the hook for another $1,500 I'm guessing (on top of the $1000 upfront for the axle). At least that's on a new billing cycle... but between having to fix my Jeep (chromo axle shafts), in addition to the LC last month, I'm kinda pissed that I'm having to front the money for that s***.

Well, I got her home. First things to start on:

1) Brakes - pads and rotors F&R.
2) Alignment.
3) Tires.

DBA rotors and Toyota pads in the mail from Slee. Also picked up the Slee headlight harness and some 3rd Gen Phillip HIR2 9012s from CandelPower. Rigid D2 driving lights will go on tonight in addition to redoing some ghetto wiring.

Apparently my friend has a Nitto hookup, so I'm going to get some 315/75R16 grapplers -- Probably the Terra since it'll see snow, sadly the more aggressive ATs or G2 terras are not offered in that size.

Interesting fuse block.
