Japanese woman speaking at startup (1 Viewer)

I have a 2007 LX 470 and it now has a woman saying something in Japanese every time I start up. Also, my MFD isn’t working. I have now AC or radio.

Can anyone provide insight into the Japanese woman speaking first? I imagine the MFD is from 60 pin, based on readings here. I do have a Phoenix ‘Tesla style’ system available and so I tried to install that and the AC still doesn’t work. I am going to attempt to fix the MFD by swapping it out with this: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/2251832673498235.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2usa

The voice was coming on before you tried to install the Android HU? Had you done something with electronics prior to that or it just randomly started?

It started this randomly. I had not installed the android head unit.

It harkens me back to the days of the lady in my mom's GX470 letting us know at every start up, "Your Lexus Link system is not active. To activate your Lexus Link system, please visit the nearest Lexus service location".

I had this same issue with our car in Zambia. I randomly picked up some Japanese hitchhikers and then asked them to listen. Turns out its essentially a reminder to put your "highway card" in the slotted reader (which they told me people normally keep when selling cars) so you legally can go on the highway in japan. They tried to help me disabled it, but to no avail. They told me to enjoy the kind lady telling me drive safely. IDK if this is your same problem, but it sounds similar.

Mine says in japanglish "creditu cardu miissseng". But it is a JDM with some aftermarket card holder. Maybe it's the same thing.

The commenter above is correct: she is reminding you to insert your highway toll card into the reader.

Technically correct is best kind of correct right? My JDM hdj101k certainly had the Lexus style radio. I bought 3 different bezels before trying the Lexus version.

The closest thing I know of is the Cygnus.

@xigxag The Phoenix head units are glitchy and kind of trash. You can order it specifically for your vehicle but you still need to set up the CANBUS protocol. Mine for my sequoia doesn't work properly off the sequoia protocol but does off the 2014 and newer Tundra protocol.

Mine does this too. Randomly, she will go off, talking about Nagano, Tokyo etc. I had a Japanese woman at work translate it to basically, “you’re entering XXXX zone/area/prefecture”
Sometimes, I don’t hear from her for weeks. Other times, she’s yammering every few minutes.

On the plus side, my wife and kids can repeat the phrases she says so I guess they will have a phrase to say to the locals if we ever visit Japan?
