For anyone else that needs passes for Eglin please PM me no later than 7:00 am tomorrow morning the 14th of January. I will be heading to Niceville for work so is a good time to go ahead and pick them up. I will check the messages moments before I pick up the passes but tomorrow is the last day I have before the run to get them.

trail pics

I took a few pics from the ride today, we had 29 rigs show up today, so we moved alot slower than we normally do. Eglin has dozens more frame twisting trails and advanced hill climbs that put your rig to the test...we got to see some of that today but it wasnt even a fraction of what all is out there. It was great being around people who understand the capabilities of the Land Cruiser and share a passion for off roading, it was a true pleasure meeting all who came, I hope that we can do this again soon,
Garett

That is awesome! Did you wade out in the water for that pic? Great turn out. Any chance you have a GPS track of where you guys went? We're planning a trip next month and I have no idea where to begin to drive.

I have a google earth over lay track file that can be converted to any gps format. just let me know when ya'll are coming and I know another FJc that will join ya'll. well that is if I am not out of town but 90% chance I will be availible.

As Garett stated Saturday was slow, but Sunday was more productive. About a dozen trucks showed up the 2nd go around.

HawkDriver let us know when yall are coming if you don't mind the extra company. We live about 15 or 20 minutes from the trails.

Here are some more pics.

Dusther is the right man to talk too! Or lead???

I took a low end Magellin GPS (one that goes in my wifes car, not a hand held) to see what would show up and 90% of all the trails are on it.

lol I like that.. yeah I'll talk to ya and give ya all the info I have on the tracks out there... on the leading part I'll just follow and eat a sandwich while running most of that frame twisting stuff. There is some good stuff out there to test out your travel and the thread on your tires. :)

But it won't be a problem if I am avail to head out there. but if I can't make it which is doubtful I'll get a track file to ya. just let me know what unit ya run

Yikes, looks like where that 60 is would pretty much munch the side of my hundy.

Awesome. We're planning our trip for Feb 21-22. I plan on camping out but we'll see how cold it is. I'll prolly bring a handful of rigs down with me so the more the merrier.

I have a Garmin Nuvi road nav gps but it has a lot of little roads on it so maybe i'll be in luck. If someone who knows shows then I won't worry about the overlay, so we'll play it by ear. Thanks you guys.

I'm also planning on speaking with the folks who give the passes out to see if I can't get a copy of their policy which allows wheeling on the installation. I've been pushing to get access up here on Fort Rucker for some time now but havn't made much progress. I think having an example to take in with my case should help out some. Then yalls can come on up here too. :bounce:

See ya in February.

it would figure that ya would have that weekend planned. I will be up in your area for a gun shoot. But I'll put a few things together for ya. Eglin is a big place and alot of the spots you would miss very easily if not directed to.

As far as talking with the Jackson g uard good luck. You will hear that there is no "wheeling" allowed on the reservation. and that you must stay on numbered roads and maintained trails. Basically if the path is becoming over run and doesn't look like any one has been down it in the past 50 years then you are not allowed to be on it. so the description is as clear as mud. All of the stuff in our photos are taken on the proper trails and roads according to the map. but it is still at the discretion of the officers who are patrolling the area to determine if the area you are in is legal or not.

so as a recap. 4wheeling/off roading is NOT allowed on the reservation but the utilization of the roads and trails are if used for the purpose of enjoying the scenery.

hope that was clear as mud as it is what we hear when we ask.

That's the same weekend as the Skyline Run...I know that Eglin's closer though...

I figure if the road is on my cheap GPS it is a maintained road.

The incline the 60 is on is wide enough for a H2 to make with no body damage.

As long as I don't have to work that weekend in Feb I would like to make it.

hey Robert what kind of GPS do you have? I bought an Invion and it didnt pick up a signal.

As far as the next ride goes I should be able to make it, keep us updated. I will camp if its not to cold...

Um, how about 2 "Official" Dixieland Runs the same weekend? That way some of us don't feel as bad about not going...
