I have had my 2008 lx570 since 2015 at 120k miles.
it has had no issues at all and was family hauler for long trips till 234k miles today.
Wife was driving back from work in stop and go dfw traffic, another vehicle hit from behind travelling at high speed in next lane and all of a sudden swerved for some reason and hit lexus at rear corner full force. i will let pictures speak what happened to his suv. no airbags deployed and she is fine with some slight pain in back from impact.
from the looks of it i believe lexus is totalled since the rear quarter panel is buckled.
the guy who hit was probably under the influence since police kept asking him to follow instructions for sobriety test but he was not following and that could be either he was under the influence or had language barrier since he was hispanic. the guy`s son and daughter showed up to scene and then i saw police putting handcuff on the guy, his daughter started crying which was really sad to see and my wife started crying just watching him getting arrested and asked police can they let him go and not arrest him. but as you know police has their suspicion and its not our decision to have him get arrested or not but my wife did get emotional at the scene.
vehicle was drivable so we drove it slowly back to home since we werent very far from home.
now we have to contact his insurance and see what they say, hopefully they give us rental.
not a good market to look for new vehicle but we dont have choice i guess.

Hope your wife didn’t get any injuries. Sucks about the LX. Just saw a lightly used LC HE @ Toyota in Burleson if you’re looking for quick replacement.

Yes im glad no injuries as of now.
i have looked at that LC but these are very overpriced right now, i will probably look at another lexus reasonably priced. She likes lexus more than LC. If i wasnt buying new tundra i would definitely get LC as well.

The tank did its job. Didn’t even break the glass…..
Yes the tank did live up to its name. I was already sold on these but after today im sold on lx/lc for life.

Here in Alaska we’d drive that another 10 years.
Hahaha i was thinking once insurance totals it i will see how much i can get it for to keep and get some offroad bumper and get quarter panel damaged fix.

Sorry to hear but I hope everybody was ok.

So police apparently forgot to give back my wifes driver license and at night came over to give it back. He told me that the guy turned out to be drunk and is facing dwi charges now. dWIs can end up very ugly so at the end of day we are thankful that we walked away without any injury.

So If INS totals it, do they give you market replacement value for how much a similar year and condition LX is going for or are they strict blue book?

Wow glad you are okay! He was cooking! It’s a real bummer your Lexus got crunched. I bet that was a loud boom. I’ve only been hit once at a much lower speed and the sound it made was unique. Hope the insurance is fair! That’s not fun!

Thats question im wondering about as well, if they go by book then i wont be able to find comparable replacement due to market at the moment. How can i be sure to be compensated fairly if they decide to go that route? Im having my insurance handle their insurance for now, my insurance said we will call them on your behalf and file claim

Yes the impact was loud noise and didnt hit once he hit three times i watched video from dash cam looking into cabin behind and the boom noise and then the screaming took over other two hits.

Fair Market Value (FMV) will be the offer you get. Check NADA, Edmunds, KBB, and when you get the offer they will send you comps to justify it, just like a house. It does take into account market circumstances

If you have collision coverage you can go through your own insurance, because I’d bet the drunk who smoked you won’t have enough coverage. Can sometimes be easier, depending on the carrier you have. Some are far worse than others.

He could have killed somebody. This is why they get put in cuffs and not just "let go".

Glad injuries were minimum in your case.

I was in Pensacola last week. Was still in may parking space (Sailors Grill in Navarre) getting read to leave when drunk leaving missed my 2 month old 1500 miles on odometer 2021 LC/HE by a foot. He went another 25 yards and ran into an incoming-to-the-parking-lot car, totaling it. Nobody injured, but the damage these people do is ridiculous. It as 11:30 am and he was wasted!

I’m so glad your family’s injuries are initially minimal. Judging by the damage to the drivers ford, that is an amazing feat!

land cruisers are lauded for their dependability and off road ability, but the value in a scenario like the one you shared are more important to me. thanks for sharing best wishes with the aftermath! I hope you get a new one soon!

234K still a baby....If he has insurance you can sue him for stress/emotional damage (DUI is no joke, 1 out of four accidents result in fatality). Id buy another LX in a heart beat. This time I recommend Amica insurance they have always paid me more than black book within 3 days, even more than blue book when I argued issues of rarity.

Welcome to the FL panhandle. What you experienced is the norm during Spring Break and summer weekends.
