Is your 100 your daily driver?

I've been trying to retire the 100 as my dd for the past 4 or 5 months ( got a 08 Carrera s sitting in the garage that my mechanic keeps telling me I have to drive more) but it has not been easy.

Rainy day, better drive the cruiser. Grocery store or home depot on the way home, cruiser. Etc, etc. Always an excuse.

Don't get me wrong, the Porsche is an amazing driving experience, much better gas milage and goes way too fast. But you know what I mean, just something about my cruiser.

Not to worry I can fly over today (my expense) and keep the Carrera fresh and ready to go.

PM me your address:D

you have truly terrible problems my friend

I just got mine. Its my DD and 22 miles each way to work. I just put 295/75/16 MT's on it. I noticed a differnce on the gas consumption. I was driving my Silverado 2500HD everyday at 11MPG. My LC is still better than the truck.

I HAD to drive a 07 turbo as a daily driver while my 100 was at slee's for a few months. It really can get wet, and go to the store, and carry the mountain bikes to the trails.

LOL!!!!

I figured I would get a couple of offers. This was a bit of a mid-life crisis purchase for both my wife and I. Keep trying to talk her into selling it and buying a newer 100 series. So far that Is a no go for her. She thinks 2 cruisers would be a bit too much.

I don't get it:cool:

DINKS (double income no kids)

and yes, in this economy we know we are blessed to still have our jobs.

Sorry, haven't figured out the multi quote option yet.

Loud, not fair, isn't the turbo awd?

But be honest which keys do you pick up first when you are heading out. LC I'll bet.

A bit much?

IMHO you should have kept the 40, 60 and the 100, then you could have sold the sports car, added an 80 and had a collector set.

My wife actually said something to that affect the other day when I pointed out an 80 in traffic. I'm pretty sure she was being sarcastic though.

My take home is a Ford Expedition.

Expeditions are nice, I like these ones ;)

I DD mine, but I am 10 miles to work. But I could also take the Bus , train, car pool or telework if gas gets bad.. I am looking at cutting back in other areas like 200+ TV channels, I could save myself 100 bucks a month in that alone. Cut my land phone another $34 a month. I dont need another car just need to put my money where I want it, in the gas tank of my 100 and more mods.

I think my gas mileage will increase with sliders, I will let you know on Thur when they get here.

Wife DD's ours, averages above 50 miles per day... it's expensive on fuel no doubt.
BUT as long as I fix it and don't pay the mechanic a penny we're doing ok on it. Only paid about 10.5 for it. Of course me as the mechanic justifies more 4-cyl pickups for us to drive while the cruiser is torn down in the garage which I like just fine.

Biggest surprise; I underestimated the part costs vs the 4-cyl toys I'm used to and have been unpleasantly surprised at some of the 'known 100 issues' and what they cost (understand that I just got a new TB with bad APPS from Toyota and I'm about to start a timing job and a cv rebuild so my wallet is still warm from the exercise). We figure that as long as the motor doesn't blow and it doesn't get totalled we're in great shape despite the upkeep costs so far.

Long term plan is to add a fun car for her daily hi miles and save the LC for snow days and trail miles...we're coming up on 180k.

Hmmm, your powers of Google-Fu are strong, Loud-San. Personally I like this one from the other day a little better:

Take home cars are cool unless you run out of space in the garage...

And much more comfortable when taking 'trips' in the back! :)

back seat probably has more room than mine! But it being my DD and nobody elses, I dont need many seats open.

I wasnt lying when I told you I put up a pic earlier :flipoff2:

My DD is a 97 Honda with 200k miles(and I think it may go another 100) Been paid for many years and gets 28 hwy 21 city.

My 2006 LC gets to rest and save mileage until Im ready to go offroad, or ride in style.

I love having a dependable beater to drive to the mall where its only going to get all banged up by ass$%^&s opening the door on it. The Northen VA area is horrible for people dinging your sides.

The south was much more "parking lot civil".

Cheers!

Indeed. The next time we hang out though, you better be wearing the new "HEY F*** FACE" coat. Can't wait to see that lol.

I've been eyeballing older acura RSX's to see if I could score one as a commuter that gets good mileage but still has most of the modern safety stuff. Not in the cards right now though. Gotta pay off the wifey's ford and ditch that, get her into a 470, then we'll see. Gonna take a while...

Skip the RSX, no better than a Civic IMO. Noisy and rough. And, of course, stay away from any early-to-mid 2000 Honda/Acura V6 Autos as you'll be replacing slush boxes every 60k miles, guaranteed!
