Is the upper radiator hose a cut to fit ? Gates brand (2 Viewers)

I would remove it and cut it without hesitation. A number of non-OEM hoses (like Gates) for older 4Runners say 'cut to fit' - so it's expected.

This. The OEM has a long and a short side, not sure about the Gates though. Measure first, cut second.

My experience is that Gates is cut to fit and OE is perfect without cutting. So I threw away the Gates and got OE.

Did you have a bunch of crud on the lower end connector where the hose meets the engine? The connector on the side of your hose with the sticker?
