Is it worth $600 and a 6hr drive each way?

Id be worried about the rust possibly being much worse on the inside of the bed that is not shown.

IMO...No.

Thats probably about $100 in gas, and a day of driving.

Correct me if I am wrong but these do not have a flip down tail gate right? Anyway I think they are neat looking and probably perform well, but without a fold gate you are limited to what you can haul/load/unload etc.

Talk to Fogblanket here on the board. He went through one of these. Its a really neat trailer. Maybe he can give you some tips on what to look for.

Buy It!

Its worth the drive, thats a very nice trailer and would not worry about the surface rust or the fact it has no tailgate, most military trailers did not come with a tailgate. I just bought the same condition trailer that had a tailgate fabbed, it needs some help. The rust on the floor is pitted surface rust that needs sanding, rust converter, priming, and bed liner or paint. Buy it and build it! Here's mine and yours looks to be in better condition.

With rust - there is no way to know without looking at it in person. With this trailer, there is no attempt to paint over obvious bad areas, so chances are very good this is a great start to a project trailer... Too bad it isn't in the west or I would have already bought it. :(

If you want a trailer, that isn't a bad place to start.

I think that is a little less than what I am seeing them go for around here. Problem is they are being snatched up at an alarming rate. If you want one, I would go for it, but for a few hundred more Kofer could get you a rust free one that is much newer, however you may find, shipping may kill the deal like it did for me.

Good luck!

as he isn't that far from me only about 4.5 hours

Good show there lad, a little sand blasting or powder blasting, and a coat of Line X inside you will be good to go. Have fun, the guys here on the board will walk you thru all hardships you encounter except cash

Grrrr....

All the trailers are on the East Coast!

I'd buy that camo trailer in a heartbeat for $750 if I was closer.

Yes, go for it!

I'm in the process of refurbishing my M416 and will post photos in a thread soon. It is not that difficult to rebuild one of these trailers.

I paid 800 canadian... so 700 usd ish for my decent condition M101a. And I had to drive 13-14 hrs each way for it.

So really 6 hrs away is fawk all.....IMOP.

The M101 cnd trailers seem to be in better shape than most of the 416 trailer I have seen on here. Must be quite a bit newer.

I don't think one is more desirable than the other. It's just that the M101's are newer than the M416's and therefore generally in better condition for the money.

So is a canadian M101 more desirable or the M416?

They are both similar spec. Almost look the same too.

BUT the M101 canadian was built in the 1990's. Some never saw action. I highly doubt my M101 saw action. It still has hairs on the tires. :)

My M101 is very clean. But still has some bubbles of rust.

I plan to glass blast the whole thing and paint it fully with POR-15, then top coat it white to match my BJ60. Rhino lined inside. Tailgate already is cut in.

Oh and I bought NON usa 16" cruiser rims to install 235/85 R16 10 ply tires on it. At that point I will see if I have to do a SOA.

I like the idea of it being low enough I can reach for s*** inside it without a step ladder......
