Is 2013-2015 when they came out with these “unique” rear lights? (6 Viewers)

This one of those threads on mud that are so fun to watch. A question about an insignificant detail stirs emotions…then the downward spiral begins.
Ha, I just mentioned they stick out for no other reason than styling. Certainly NOT a deal breaker. The stirred emotions on this thread are from LC13-15 owners.

It doesn't matter too much unless you have to pay for the repairs. Cracking an FJ40 turn signal lens would be great. $35 to replace. The '16+ headlamps are $2000 each and the lens are not available separately. You can't just run with a cracked lens because the moisture will likely burn the LED's out. Fortunately, the protruding tail lights and headlamps are much cheaper.

So you're repeating the same thing that I stated in the beginning 🤣 Priceless.

But yes, lets compare the prices from 50+ years ago... lmao /s.

What are you going on about? This is today's price for FJ40 lens. This part was not produced 50 years ago and just sitting at some warehouse waiting for today.

Lmao I have been implying the same question to you... what does this have to do with lighting on LC200s 🤣

FJ40 is a completely different vehicle, not to mention designed 50+ years ago. Comparing apples to oranges.

Nobody is comparing a 200 to a 40. It was a Cost/Risk Analysis. What are the chances of breaking a headlamp/tail light? What will it cost if/when it breaks. $100? No problem. $2000? Maybe not huge problem but certainly puts a damper on the days fun. $2k buys a decent amount of mods.

In this case, it wouldn't have mattered. Abscessed tail light or not... would've been broken.

Speaking as a representative of the 99.99% of LC owners where that 1 inch (maybe?) of clearance truly does not matter (and as the owner of a 2013 that is regularly in the woods): To the 0.01%, I am truly sorry that the early 200 does not fit into your regular rock and tree rubbing activities. Just a thought, but maybe there are better designed/engineered options out there (with full light integration) for the rocks and trees, leaving the 200 series for grocery getter duties it was designed for?

Wow, that was probably sarcasm, but maybe not. The Sequoia wpul;d be a closer fit to grocery getting / soccer mom crowd. The 200 Series (Station Wagon series), while larger and plusher than the HD line of the 40 Series is still more robust for off-road than the Light Duty 70 Light/Prado/250 Series as witnessed by the popularity of the 200's in Austria outback, Middle East deserts, Africa and choice vehicle of the UN, US Military in ME and ISIS

They are only using the 200 over there because they can’t get the Jeep Liberty. I’m also hearing of Aussie families that are literally having to choose between feeding their families or replacing broken protruding headlamps/tail lamps. It’s becoming a national crisis - look it up
