Is 2013-2015 when they came out with these “unique” rear lights? (26 Viewers)

It was a style that has come and gone. Non existent in the 100. Introduced in the 200, peaking in the 13-15. Diminished in the 300. I prefer not to have protruding headlamps/tail lights when the headlamps are almost $2000 each. You are speaking specifically about aesthetics, carry on.
Aesthetics are in question, specifically for the 200 series LCs, as this is a 200 series subforum. Not what came before or since. Carrying on.

The OP literally says, "They seem kind of fragile and out there." The answer is yes, they can be.

That is more than just aesthetics. . What do you want to talk about next, your favorite color?

Yeah I’m not sure if it’s just the camera angle making it look more extreme than it is, my initial reaction isn’t favorable, I like the flatter look of other years, they just seem kind of fragile and out there, just a nitpick, I’m looking for a 200.

Haha triggered much 🤣🤣 And I confirmed this in my initial response to the OP a long time ago...

But since you still had the need to talk about completely different generations and aftermarket, I would not be surprised if you bring color into this discussion also. Carry on.

I'm not triggered by very much. I use all my Land Cruisers for what they are designed for. Aesthetics takes a back seat. They just have to meet the minimum qualification.

Do you want to give the OP the bad news or shall I? This thread he/she created is ONLY about aesthetics.... according to you. A plastic headlamp or tail light vs ANYTHING... pretty much "anything" wins.

Lame... I'm going to bow out. Waste of time. Waste of bandwidth.

Not sure what 100 series has to do with this lol and apparently we're looking at different pictures.. because to me, there's no difference.

Regarding rocks and trees... my land cruiser stays miles away from those. The only tilt it sees is from a new fridge loaded at Costco.
The top portion of the headlight on the 08-11 is more pronounced than the 2016+....I can see it in the picture.

Hint hint... Maybe look at the bottom portion in relation to the bumper too? 😉

Here, I will lay it out word for word again to what I already stated in the beginning haha...

"If any" in comparison to '08s and "not much difference" to '16s, which is a true statement.

Yes, I see the bottom portion, but my comment was about the upper portion that is clearly more pronounced. Just stating the obvious my friend.

All this talk of “pronounced lights” on a 200 series is cracking me up, as if this was something new for toyota.

Oh @rex in bama .... now you did it! You completely bombed past the 100, 80, 70, 60, 50 and all the way to the 40 series. Somebody is going to get their panties all twisted up in a bunch! However, the 40 series lights are still within the body lines... and thus "protected." Even the '16-'21 is somewhat protected with almost any aftermarket bumper.

Oh no, somebody is going to go full potato and bring in aftermarket lights and bumpers into this discussion and comment how the Land Cruiser is meant to be used. Oh wait...

It sure is, but you quoted my post and in my post, I did not specify which portion of the light, just that they are "a bit more pronounced", which again is a true statement ;)

Not to be argumentative but the older ones don’t stick out past the body lines either.

Hey full-retard / Potato, those are OE headlamps. Mine are shaped the same. Yes, I have aftermarket bumpers.

Yes, these pics are one-dimensional. That's not how wheeling works. Really, it doesn't matter unless you wheel it. If you do, then 1" in quite a significant. The body can be massaged back, the head/tail lamp can't. Trust me, the 200 is a big boat and I was resisted to buying one for many years. Every inch counts. Bigger boats like this require bigger tires, lifts, etc to conquer the more difficult trails.

Watch your language triggered princess. Not all of us "wheel" our vehicles and not everyone goes around measuring our rigs to an inch.

Exactly, you should not try and be the expert on subject matter you know nothing about.

The subject is not only about wheeling in rocks and trees.. as you would like to believe 🤣🤣

But I did state that "they're a bit more pronounced in their design" and "not much if any difference".

You went off talking about damage from wheeling, how the land cruiser designed to be used, and how much that 1" matters to you...

This one of those threads on mud that are so fun to watch. A question about an insignificant detail stirs emotions…then the downward spiral begins.

Speaking as a representative of the 99.99% of LC owners where that 1 inch (maybe?) of clearance truly does not matter (and as the owner of a 2013 that is regularly in the woods): To the 0.01%, I am truly sorry that the early 200 does not fit into your regular rock and tree rubbing activities. Just a thought, but maybe there are better designed/engineered options out there (with full light integration) for the rocks and trees, leaving the 200 series for grocery getter duties it was designed for?
