Ironman Deluxe Commercial Front Bumper

Ordered an ironman and an engo 10k from metaltech. I am excited. Did a lot of research and I like this bumper over most of the others. Can't wait.

It's a nice bumper depending on the kind of wheeling you are doing. The minute I put lockers on my rig, I started dragging it and hitting it. Spent the day yesterday, removing it, fixing a stripped out frame captured nut, and strengthening the mounting of the bumper to the front of the frame. The Iron man is really only held on with 2 bolts per side. You will want to address that while you are installing or you may regret it later. I bent the whole bottom of the ironman winch cradle due to the spacer design they use. When we were fixing it, we got rid of the u style spacer and replaced it with 2"w x 1" thick aluminum bar stock. I will post pics later, but it is clearly not a great stock mounting setup and inferior to the Slee. I love the Price, looks, light provisions and cb antenna mount point, but the type of wheeling you are planning to do will determine your overall happiness with the product. Good luck.

I purchased my Ironman Commercial Deluxe bar from Metal Tech in Newberg, OR and I love it. Fit and finish is first rate and I have no complaints...
Plus, dealing with the folks at Metal Tech was a pleasure.

Saw the pics. Thank you for the heads up. I'll see what I can do to beef up the install. This is parking lot work so my options are a bit limited. I don't wheel super hard but I bought the truck with a loose front bumper and now it's getting worse after a little snow pushing this summer so it was time.

Here is a better picture showing the spacer that really needs to be replaced with a solid as well as the damage done.

Banging. I have never winched with it. Try to find somebody to fab you a solid aluminum or steel spacer with holes drilled in the same place as the U spacer. That should prevent this. You can see where my cradle bent around the shape of the u spacer. You don't need to worry about the other work I did as it was to reinforce the mounting location do to the repaired captured nut. Since we had to cut my frame horns off anyway, we decided to beef up that area to take some of the pressure off the two main bolts per side. HTH.

Almost done with the install. Waiting on some muscle to help lift. I'm going to wire the fogs to the stalk but where did anyone wire the turn/running lights? Just tap in next to the turn signals?

Obviously not finished but I like it. Nice look. Great adjustments. Had to throw it on quick so the folks have something with a bumper to drive while they visit.

Looks good!

Anymore info, complaints on these bumpers?

That's where I was going. Just checking. Thank you!

Tuck the passenger turn and fog lights up tight behind the bumper and seal to the best of your ability. I've found the pass side sees more of the elements (maybe because of crowned roads) and the factory Ironman connections corroded quickly. Had to replace the pass side but drivers is fine.

I'm going to order one from Metaltech. They have two versions.. The 98-02 bumper doesn't seem to have the fog light cut outs... Will the 03 version it my 99?
Thanks

Ironman only has one bumper that fits 98-07 and it includes the fog lights and wiring harness.

OK. Almost done with the install. A few pics for those interested.

Coming home

Why live with the included "fog" lights? Added an HID kit from TRS.

Had to find a way to keep the bulbs in place and went all ghetto on it…fingers crossed.

Not the best picture, but there's a ton of light coming out of those bulbs…and room for more!

Tried to get the gap right to avoid crunching my fenders. Took a bit of less than gentle coercing to get it right.

The finished product.
