Hey Kevin, thanks for taking the time to respond and pass along the info.
As per the wipers, did the roof have the openings/ports (lack of proper term I am sure) on pre-77 and after too? To me it looks as though the roof had original wipers mounted - View attachment 3643564

Ok, I might be wrong. Yes I am.
My LC is a FJ45 and has an all metal roof, so that might account for the difference. See pic below.
As you can see on my roof the two holes you have are for bolts to the windshield frame.

I remember now that the semi-circular cut out is for the washer nozzle, not the wiper motor.
The frame is from a different year that had the nozzle in the hood, so that is where I put the nozzle.

Aren't those the bolt holes? My 75 has 2 holes just like them. They're sort of elongated. I thought the early tops' header was sort of trimmed around the wiper posts.

From what I remember about reading on the imported vehicles is that there can be parts that are different then the US models; and adds a layer of complexity obtaining parts etc?? ( particularly the drive train and steering components) . Please correct me if this isn't correct.

I have four bolt holes across the front of my 01/72 windshield and four bolt holes across the front of my roof top. Two of the oddly shaped openings are for the windshield wipers, and my guess is the other two would be for right hand drive placement of wipers. There are also seven bolt holes across the top of my windshield frame, which I assume are for the soft top bracket attachment point.

Great - thanks guys for info on the wiper placement. So to recap, if there were wipers on the roof on said vehicle there would be cut outs - makes sense.

Now….decisions, decisions…..to buy or not to buy….

Yep, typical for a early 40 top with a w/s frame with wipers on the top.

Oh by a long shot it's not rust free. I don't want to show you from the firewall back. It WAS a nice find when I bought in
Dec '78. Sadly it's been in pieces since the early 80's. I've been waiting for someone somewhere to stamp out good quality proper fitting body panels. From what I read, I may have to wait a while longer, however, I'm not getting any younger. I will say I've seen some very nicely transformed rusty rigs by some guys with mad skills, using these body panels.

Thanks to all that have contributed and those who have followed along. At this point I’ve made an offer on the vehicle - $5k less than what he’s asking - based on the issues I’ve discovered and pointed out by you all. I’ll see what he says. I’ve waited about three years to find one and maybe jumping at the wrong one would be a mistake - waiting a bit longer is not going to hurt me. I think this has a lot of potential, but there are a certain amount of unknowns.
Who knows, the seller may agree - if he does I’ll keep you all posted.
Thanks fellas!

And anyone interested in purchasing this Bj for what the seller is asking, send me a PM and I’ll give you the contact details. Cheers!
