Here's my new to me 2003 Land Cruiser. Seems like a baby at 84k miles. Fully kitted out for trips to the mall. I'm excited to explore more of Southern California and Baja offroad. We'll see how much building the wife lets me do considering I sold the purchase as a daily driver for her (short commute).

Quick to do list:
-Clean interior (found part of a cheeseburger under back seats)
-Dealer to detail
-Dealer to replace roof rack trim piece

-Dealer to replace back headrests

-Dealer to replace back tool cover

Anyone know what that black piece is in the picture?
-Obtain rear drivers side ashtray

-Replace leather wrap on steering wheel. Local shop couldn't get exact match and reccomended going black to match shifters.
-Replace front seats and console leather
-Replace trim piece. Is this the entire door?

-Remove running boards
-Consider AT tires. The current Michelin Latitude Tour tires look almost new so this might have to wait. Thoughts from SoCal guys on the current tires for local areas like Big Bear?
-Some kind of sleeping platform with drawers and SUV tent like this https://us.napieroutdoors.com/store/catalogue/details/1/2/product_id:3/

Anyone here in LA/Southbay have recommendations on mechanics and upholstery shops?

Thanks,
Scott

Congrats... Very clean rig and nice low miles! It's funny what comes up missing sometimes huh. :)

Sent from deep in the mountains of Honduras using only sticks and rocks.

congrats on the purchase!!!

Thanks guys. I knocked the interior cleaning off the list and luckily found no additional happy meal remnants under the seats. Now that I got it clean I can go out and get it dirty.

Congrats! Can't go wrong with cleaning her up to begin with. I spent several weeks working on mine. Its worth it though! You will be able to enjoy her after that!

Look at Metric TLC in the vendor section of Mud for replacement leather...to include OEM- correct steering wheel.

Is the dealer replacing headrests as part of the purchase? If not, save yourself a ton of money and order them from Cruiserparts.net

If you must buy from a dealer, contact cruiserdan or Beno...they will give you a healthy discount.

2003 and already needs replacement leather? I love that color! Theres one 5 minutes from me that I get jealous of every day!

Garth - Thx for the info. Dealer is getting the headrests.

Just sent Shane my info for the leather. Thanks on the ash tray the kids in the back will be so excited not to have to use their empty bud cans for their cigs;)

FullyLitLED - That SoCal sun is not good for leather.

Congrats, she will provide many years of fun adventure.

maxdog1969 - Thanks.

r2m - Thx. Looks like a nice setup.

Dealer is having a hard time finding the 2nd row headrests. Anyone have two in ivory they might want to sell?

Your're welcom...
I still have a wee bit to go.
Heck... I have a long ways to go before it's where I want it to be...;)

Big Bear snow or summer? Either way, I've been running 33" (285/75/16) Nitto Terra Grapplers with 1.5 to 2.5" lift with good results for the last few thousand miles. The Terra Grapplers have a lot of sipping, to they'd be decent in the snow.

Welcome to the SoCal Area. I'm up the beach from you. I've heard good things about http://khimports.com/ in the valley.

Thanks Klaus. Not sure about Big Bear. Mainly planning on deserts during the winter. I have the 18 inch rims and am leaning towards the Michelin LTX A/T 2. Although it looks like a set of 5 from Tirerack.com is $1,725.00 for the 285/65R18. Ouch.

I made a tire survey thread a while back. You can see what everyone else is running and why.

https://forum.ih8mud.com/tire-wheel-tech/556631-tire-survey-100-series.html

The Michellin's are probably going to be the most expensive. I had the LTX's before the Nittos. The Nittos are definitely louder, but probably one of the best daily drivability to off road ability balances. Ton's of tire threads around.

I ended up going with the BFG Rugged Terrain in 275/65/18. Seemed like a good tire for mostly street with some off road capability. Running boards are staying on for now. Hopefully the running board police will not pull me over;)

Ok - the RBP will keep quiet.

Nice score on the rig. Very clean.
