Hi everyone!

I purchased a new-to-me 80 Series LC in late 2024. Slowly trying to restore it, and discovered this forum by accident, and fell in love with the welcome and open attitude of everyone (getting rarer in today's environment). So wanted to create an account and contribute however I can.

This is my LC - 90% stock, and I intend to keep it that way.

Cheers!

First thing to do is get rid of the grill guard and taillight protectors. They are known as "damage multipliers. They provide no real protection action and actually cause more damage. As an example a light front collision will cause the grill guard to fold damaging the hood. Without, only the bumper would be damaged. Think it looks cool, just lookup the price of a new hood.

Hi, thanks for your suggestion. I got the LC with the grill, and have been contemplating removing it. The grill is straightforward to remove. The issue is, the tail light protectors are drilled into the body near the tail light housing. Need to see how to address that.

The taillight guards are typically secured by 2 bolts that are exposed when the tailgate is down.

Hi, Sure. A brief list of what I did -

I got the LC from a mechanic, who maintained it pretty well. But it was not driven regularly. The cylinders were misfiring, so I changed the entire ignition coils, spark plugs, etc. Replaced the battery. Also changed the transmission fluid. Still on the original engine. I had some oil leak, so changed the oil pump seal that was corroded. Last week I changed the original starter as that giving problems.

Inside, I put a new head unit and changed all the speakers. The radio antenna was replaced - I liked the retro up-and-down switch.

Now I am trying to get a window seal for the rear sliding windows as water seems to get into the seat-belt area whenever it rains. And the sun-roof does not "seal shut" when using the controls, so I have to manually see it close every time I open it. Trying to find a solution to this. And I want to put sound deadening materials inside to reduce road noise. So small fun projects for the foreseeable future.
