The entire vehicle is covered in a special coating that is used to coat the inside of Toxic Waste drums

That is really interesting. I'd love to see what that looks like in person, and I'm curious how quickly that truck will sell. Thanks for posting the link. It seems like a really good idea, because any truck taken into the bush gets pinstriped really quickly....

I didnt see Lockers anywhere and its hard to tell from the interior pictures because they are all stretched out and distorted. Seems odd with all the detail that they were not mentioned or even weirder to do all that work to an unlocked rig.

from eBay.....

Q: Since some is going to comment on this I'll just address it. None of the photos clearly show the frint and rear locking diff. the door code shows K292 instead of K294 (the code for the factory lockers) so you either have aftermarket lockers or the door was replaced for some reason... Either way, nice looking rig!

A: A very good question. Actually the front axle was changed out with another Land Cruiser to get the Stock Toyota Electric Locking on mine about 3 years ago bye Land Cruiser Specialists. So it is actually true stock toyota electric lockers but just from a different Land Cruiser that had front lockers. I guess I should add a picture of the electric Toyota Stock Lockers...

If you plan on taking your rig into the wild, on rocks, against trees, etc., I think a paint cover like this is a very smart idea.

After basically destroying the paint on my rig, I decided it was time to do something similar to this truck on mine.

I am very happy with the results. I also wheeled it this weekend in PA where you get lots of trees, brush etc., scraping up your sides, and I came out, washed the truck down and no scratches etc. to worry about.

It might look like s*** to some, but to others it is a good way to either get rid of scrapings or to mitigate future surface destruction.

Just my .02

Best.

I kinda like it

South East Asia with black paint like that? Crazy. It's hot enough over there without a black paint job and black interior. How about white, silver, or some light color? But I guess the light colors might not hold up cosmetically as well as dark colors.

Other than the color, great idea for that environment.

I had the same thought. That thing must be an oven inside in the summer. At least the stock metallic black paint reflects a little light. This paint job absorbs it all. I can't imagine getting on this truck after it's been park in the sun on a hot humid summer day.

Regards

Alvaro

yeah the paint job probably wouldnt be the best for a mall cruiser... but if offroading was your only use it would probably be amazing.

All that work to sand off the entire truck? And he left the POS OEM roof rack on there and you can see the rust holes! WTF???????????????

The truck was black from Toyota. The interior is tan, not black. The black coating was applied long before Robin knew he'd be taking the rig overseas.

Robin Hood is a member of LSLC. He is a good, honest guy. Christo Slee had a huge hand in building the rig, and I never saw it fail any obstacle Robin ever pointed it at.

Anyone who thinks the rig is a POS is out of their minds. It would be hard to find a better built trail rig...or a more well-maintained daily driver. To each his own on the opinions of it's appearance with the black coating, but it is an ignorant tard that lables it a POS.

The truck has both front and rear OEM Toyota locking differentials. Robin bought a locked rig off of ebay, swapped the axles/lockers/switch, then re-sold the donor rig.

looks like good old fashioned Navy Non-skid for aircraft carrier decks

In the write up he said he removed the rack and sealed the holes. So, I doubt it's rust you see there...
