I'm talking with Lisa, aka MTGIRL from TacomaWorld.com, about possibly doing a Xmas Tree Run / Meet and GREET on Sunday after Thanksgiving. She's in the Bozeman area and drives a T4R.

If snow actually shows up we could do some sledding. Otherwise without snow hopefully the FS keeps trails open.

If you're interested let me know! More details to come as we figure out who's going to come, etc.

Edit: Lisa is thinking of a place near Ennis. Says there was a clear cut there years ago so lots of little trees. Last year the trail was still open the weekend after Turkey day too.

UPDATE: Ride Report:

@Saul Abel, myself, and a TacomaWorld.com member went out Xmas tree hunting today (11/27/16) as planned through this thread. Ended up being a great day for a drive. Beautiful scenery! So glad I went!

Learned of a new place to go drive, hike, and camp for next summer. Lisa says the forest service closes off this road system next week and doesn't normally re-open it to vehicles until JULY due to snow levels each year. So we were very fortunate she invited us to go this trip this weekend!

Definitely have an interest. I get back to BZN late Sat nite.

Ok so looks like Sunday is the day. Lisa wants to go up into the Gravelies near Lyons Bridge fishing access south of Ennis. She was up there last week and there was zero snow. So even with a little snow this week it should be easy in and out. She's in a stock 4 Runner so nothing crazy is needed to make this accessible to anyone who wants to go.

I'll post here again once I get a when and where meeting location setup with her. We are all on the Bozeman area I think so it makes sense to convoy down in my mind.

I'm waiting on confirmation on the time. But looking at meeting at the Town Pump in 4 Corners at like 9am Sunday morning.

Unfortunately my wife and I have church till ~10:15... We could be at 4corners by 10:30 if it was possible to meet there then... However I don't want to be an inconvenience so if it's not possible that's fine.

I'm still waiting to hear from Lisa on time so let's see what works for everyone.

Lisa says the journey is 3 hours each way. So starting late could be an issue.

I may not be able to go myself. Children's mother doesn't want to let me have the kids all day. I'm supposed to return them mid Sunday. So this may mean I just can't go. Either that or I give the kids back early morning.

Yeah I get that. I might hang around out there for sunset anyways for some photography if I do go. I could possibly meet you guys up there if you have to leave early I'd just have to know exactly where to go.

@3rdmember @Saul Abel @CCRider

I'm going to arrange hand over of the kiddos a little early so I can come along.

Who all wants to and can go for sure? Talking to Lisa about meeting at 10:30. Her only concern is having enough time to explore a bit. Leaving earlier is more conducive for that of course.

Thinking if we know who is going and what times work for them will make it easier to set the time.

Happy Thanksgiving all!

We are waiting to see who is coming so we can set our meet time based on what works for everyone involved.

Please let me know if you are coming and how early you can meet! We want to get as many involved as possible.

Meeting place is Town Pump in 4 Corners Sunday Nov 27th. This will be a day trip so bring food and water. Dress warm.

Looks like @Saul Abel is the only one committed to going.

I'd say let's plan for 9am meet/depart from town pump at 4 Corners.

Really bummed I couldn't make it, I am hoping to check that place out next year sometime, where all did you go?

South of Ennis to the Lyons Bridge fishing access. Then up into the mountains. Not exactly sure but I recall seeing trail signs for Soap Creek, Standard Creek, and we had a picnic lunch at Wolverine Basin.
