By "the rear" emblem are you refer I g to the long one on the upper back door?
If so I could be interested.

The really long emblem on the rear hatch that has all the text is WAY too long for my printer. I would need to upgrade from a 5k printer to a 50k printer to have a build plate large enough for those. The "rear emblem" I'm talking about is the small "L" or the toyota "sombrero" that is on the rear hatch. I will be replacing that with two optional designs; the "80" and the "TEQ". I may expand on the options down the road.

I finally got a couple TEQ prints done. The lettering on the black and gray is a little rough. I was still having issues with the machine at that point. The red and gray (which I think looks pretty sweet) almost looks orange but it isn't. It's just my crappy camera and bad lighting. The red is a real bright warm red. It really pops with the grey color. Both of these were just prototypes to test on the yota grille Beno is sending me so I didn't print them at the highest setting. If they are a perfect fit then I will print one more in the final higher finish. I just didn't want to spend 6 hours printing it if didn't fit the first time. The 2 hour print seemed to make more sense for what I needed.

When you are ready to go into production, I'll be interested in a teq badge. Great wor!

That looks pretty slick.
On the high res print does it come out high gloss and smooth?

I'm not sure if you guys in the states have the "twin cam" badge on the side of the old (pre 95" ) grill but I'd like a teq badge to fit there.

Not the best pic but that's it's location

It comes out quite a bit smoother but not "high gloss". If you want super smooth like it's injection molded then it has to be done in ABS and then put through an acetone treatment. My new printer will be able to print in ABS and I will be experimenting with the acetone until I can find that "glossy" finish. I have seen pics and vids using acetone on ABS with amazing results.

Hope that didn't come across like I thought they looked rough... Was purely curious on the difference in high res and more advanced machines as I know practically nothing about 3d printing and it's amazing to see what can be done

For those of you asking about a combo "80" and FJ40 "Toyota" on one emblem; here ya go. I tried numerous types of fonts for the 80 in the background but none of them looked right. They all clashed with the text. It wasn't until I used the FJ40 font for the 80 did it look right. (should have done that to start with). I also had two stripes down the middle at first instead of the one but it looked almost militant so I decided to go with one clean stripe. The embossed background now takes care of a lot of the dead background space I was getting. I might switch over to this design for my grille instead of my original FJ40 design. I will try to print out a prototype on Monday and mount it up to my grille for some pics. Just so we are all aware, any design I have come up with and in any color combo I will be able to make. Once I have the file created it's rather easy to load any of my designs at any stage onto the printer. So whatever you see I can print. My guess is that when this is all done I will have a dozen or more front and rear emblems to choose from.

That's awesome.

Wow. This is awesome. I assume there's no way to get that chrome look without actually chroming the part, though, right? Awesome either way.

Those TEQ badges came out awesome. I'm sold!

So lots of you have mentioned making a rear emblem. So I went out this evening and worked in the garage trying to get the rear emblem off. I removed the rear door handle and cover from the inside expecting to see small screws that hold the emblem on, but I found nothing. I even removed the door lock thinking maybe there would be holes behind there but still nothing. I still don't know how that rear emblem is attached. It almost seems like it's just glued on. Does anyone out there know? I stuck a flat head screw driver behind it and started prying and it heard some tearing and cracking noises but decided to stop before the emblem just shattered on me. It's kind of hard to get dimensions off of it when it's in pieces.

BHICKS, i never saw your question answered about the rear emblem. The long "toyota land cruiser" under the rear glass and the AWD emblem are both just stuck on. ON my 1996 the toyota sombrero is also stuck on but there are two tabs on the back that fit into two holes in the hatch. to remove the emblems i used a heat gun, fishing line and a razor blade very very carefully. the blade is skinny enough to fit behind without having to "fold" the emblems away from the body. you just have to work around the tabs. It took me forever.

I like what you came up with using the 80 in the background. Like you said - it eliminated all the dead space and makes it unique to the 80 series.

If that red one is more orange than you like I would be very interested in buying it. My interior has a little orange color in it and it might match up pretty good.

It's not really orange. It just looks orange in the bad lighting with a crappy camera. One of the tabs got messed up as well when my 3 year wanted to see how it would hold up to my framing hammer. I wasn't paying attention when I was out in the garage with him. NOT a good idea with a 3 year old and tools. I will be printing all of the TEQ emblems in this color. I really like how bright it is and how it helps pop the gray letters.

Are the sombrero and "L" emblem tabs the same as the "full time 4wd" tabs? I would be interested in replacing the 4wd badge with one of your TEQ emblems.

I don't think the full time 4wd emblem has tabs. Beno gave me his a few years back, and IIRC I just glued it straight on to my 97. Don't recall having to trim any tabs off.

I got 2 of them 3 year olds.:D
Well if one comes out more orange don't forget me.:p
