Are we planning on going up the DiabloDrop Off? I believe that is the only way to get to the mud caves on the other side..

I'm looking forward to meeting eveyone next weekend!

If I thought we could get our 100 series cruisers through the canyon below the diablo drop off I would have had us camp at the mud caves. Then we could head down the drop off and exit into fish creek. The drop off is no big deal, we drove up it (oops not supposed to do that as it's a one way trail) and down it last spring in my nephews jeep jk. The problem is the rock slide just below in the canyon, which made a difficult exit. 37 " tires and a 4.5" lift on the jk and we almost had to winch out.

The other way to the mud caves is go west on the 78 to the S2. Then head south to canyon sin nombre. A much longer drive compared to what you suggested. But hey, while we are in fish creek we can check out if it's passable. I was at the mud caves a few weeks ago. They are a must see IMO.

Looks like it's warming up a bit and we are heading for some good weather.

I might just have to see if my winch works. Believe it or not my truck has one but I haven't had a chance to see if it actually works.

I have driven my 100 almost all the way through the Canyon to the drop off. Tight fit in a couple of places, but a good spotter can make it happen. I had to turn around 3/4 of the way through due to some oncoming traffic! We backed out of it! This was a couple of months ago.

The rockslide was pretty fresh when we were there. The rest of the canyon was easy out to fish creek. We should give it a look. Probably been a lot more vehicles through there since then.

Looks like we have about 5 vehicles from my count. Anyone else joining bluecruiser and me at fonts point at noon on Friday?

Just picked up a nifty folding camping table. The truck is running very well and I sure hope it stays that way. We are pretty excited. This will be my son's and this truck's (with me as the owner) first camping trip.

That's cool. I will need a table for my beer ;). This will be a father/son trip for me too. Can't wait. See you guys there.

We are shooting to get there around 3 and set up.

Frank,
Save us a campsite or two if you get there before us. We should wander in around 4pm. Just set up your new table in an empty campsite to keep the rif-raf out. I think bluecruiser already has plans for it anyway:p

If I remember correctly there are only a half dozen or so sites, so we may have to double up.

Looking forward to meeting all of you.

Sounds good, will do. Drive safe.

I'll be there with my wife and 1.5 year old. Probably make it down for dinner Friday

We will get there Friday afternoon . We can definitely save some space. Is anyone bringing a fire pit? Trying to the get one but the local walmart is out.

I have a metal wash basin thing that I was planning on bringing with me to use as a fire pit. It should stand up to the heat. if it doesn't I'll go home a little lighter.

Given how bad traffic is likely to be going for Pasadena to Anza on Friday afternoon we will probably save ourselves a headache and try to be at camp around 9am Saturday morning. Save a spot for us if you can.
