Can anyone point me to threads about the resonator on the side of the air intake can? What is its purpose, what would the impact of "deleting" it be, etc?

I have a split hose, and was wondering if I can remove it, bypass it with a single piece of hose, meanwhile removing yet another thing from my engine bay...

Of course I found this after I posted. Sorry.

"just a silencer" Required Equipment to pass emission test (Maricopa County AZ-- OBD1) - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/required-equipment-to-pass-emission-test-maricopa-county-az-obd1.1285958/post-14476350

Bypass hose - Gates 22627/NAPA 9260*
* put a piece of old inner tube around the air cleaner port because it is slightly smaller.

If I want to replace that hose that is split on mine:

The part number was 17342-66010, it was discontinued several years ago.
There is a V6 Tacoma radiator hose that can be used as a substitute for it. 16572-07040.

When I paid homage to my PAIR, that box went with it - partly because it no longer served a purpose as a result - but crucially to make room for the second engine room battery.

It's just a silencer...mine has the hose re-routed by PO to delete...just sounds like a low rumble fart if you blip the throttle or on decal sometimes when the PAIR is functioning. Kind of like if you buzz your lips into a Christmas paper roll to scare the dog or kids, but for just a couple of seconds.

Thank you for the insight. I ordered the hose to bypass it and it will arrive later this week. Awesome. One fewer thing to bother with!

Looks like you've already experienced something I'm trying to find a solution for twice in the same day. Any noticable difference with the resonator removed? I'd like a dual battery too, so looking at my options.

No difference that I noticed. Just less stuff in the way.
