Hi guys,

I am just about to install my intake manifold on my BJ40 after replacing the core plugs behind it, I have original gaskets ready.

Would you advise adding sealer to the intake gaskets before install or install dry.

Thanks in advance,
ToyotaDyna

I always fit dry on 2H engines - identical technology.

If the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and/or cylinder head are not damaged, I would not use silicone.

@duncanrm @Eurasiaoverland Thank you!

I topped up the cooling system AFTER I fitted the intake manifold ( I know, pretty stupid of me lol ) with new gaskets dry and one core plug had a slight leak, I didn't have it dead straight.

After removing the manifold ( without managing to damage the gaskets - I was lucky I didn't have it torqued down fully! ) I knocked out the plug and replaced with a new one, straight this time.

All looks good now, just have to bleed the fuel filter housing, IP, and injectors tomorrow morning.

Thanks again!
