The supra policy is about $200 per year with no restrictions on driving.

You guys make me want to puke. I have over 30 years safe driving and my 100 costs me over $1600 per year, and my 4Rnr costs $1300. No drivers under 40 oneither policy. We get butt-raped in BC! Those numbers are in USD in case you wondered.

You may want to check out state farm. I had geico for years and eventually switched to state farm once a claim was old enough to not matter.
Long story short- Saved a decent amount of money. Same full coverage/collision 100/300 bodily. Even dropped the comprehensive to $0. I insured my 87 Supra with their antique classic coverage with a pretty high agreed value for what it is. The supra policy is about $200 per year with no restrictions on driving. If you look into all the times you are not covered driving with hagerty or grundy it is alarming. May not be the best choice for all, but it is for us. No kids to f*** up the policy either.

Agreed on this. I looked all over when I was putting the red '87 pickup back on the road, terrified that someone was gonna swipe it or smash into it. Tried Haggerty, they wanted a guarantee that the truck was only used in parades and special events (no DD), and it had to be parked in a garage. Plus they wanted an appraisal, which was gonna run me ~$600.

I've been with State Farm for over 40 years, and they have always done me right. We came up with an agreed value, I sent them a bunch of photos and scanned some of the receipts, they were good.

I just had to put a new nose on the front of my 7 year old Miata, thanks to hitting a deer. The car had a full ceramic coating applied when it was new, so I wanted it re-done on the parts that had to be painted. I had a detail shop send me a quote for $850 and I figured they would never pay that. Got the check a couple days later, it goes in next week. They didn't even question it.

At this point, I don't really care if they are the cheapest.

Holy crap, that's nuts. My 200-series is only ~$80 a month. The Miata is a little less.

So, I have hagerty stated value coverage so if my garage Burns down or a tree falls on it, or it gets destroyed by an hit and run. Total loss type claims. The fact that I may take it on a dirt road every once in a while would raise flags?

According to my discussions with the underwriters, yes. I would imagine they would honor the policy in a loss, but would non-renew. That isn't in the contract, just based on experience. The exclusion for "off-road" in the policy is very loose.

JC Taylor- I insure 3 classic vehicles, very reasonable pricing.

I'm appointed with JC Taylor as well, but they seem to be geared more towards the restored vehicles.

So I just received the renewal for the Supra in the mail.

I was a little off on a couple things
1. antique/classic cannot have a $0 comprehensive. So the Supra is $100 comprehensive while the other 4 vehicles are $0. Whatever...
2. The policy isn't $200 per year. It's $159.48 :)
3. There might be a further discount applied based on the expected mileage we discussed. I doubt it makes a whole lot of difference. I don't remember the exact details or what was discussed and it seems like a loose rule.

If I'm at fault - let's assume no other car, just hit a deer, then a tree then, into a ditch... and totaled - in my freshly restored '84 Pickup that I had appraised and insured - via one of the policies mentioned - for $15,000, I'd get a check for (roughly) $15,000 (deductibles, etc.) Clear enough.

But, does my appraised/guaranteed value hold up if I'm not at fault - if I get t-boned by an Escalade. Will that driver's ins. seek to pay the market value. Or, are they somehow bound to pay that appraised value?

Or... would that Escalade policy cover the market value and my company would make up the difference?

Ya know... it's starting to sound like I plan on wrecking my little truck as soon as put the plate on it ;-)
