Hey Guys

I am toying with the idea of installing a complete (with e locker and disc brakes) rear end out of a 95 FJ80 into my 85 FJ60 when i do my SOA swap in a month or so.

The only problem i forsee is that the pinion flange is about 2-3" closer to the center then on the FJ60. Would this cause vibes on the street or would the d-shaft compensate for the angles because the flanges are square to each other?

Anyone see this as a problem? How about a cure? Anyone here done this swap?

Thanks a bunch for any info on this!

Talk to "theferg" on this board. He did the same thing and a year or so ago and did quite a write up on it as well.

actually the ferg got an fj60 full floater and put an fj80 third member on it

Thanks, yeah, i have been in much contact with the ferg, and so far neither one of us can think of anyone that has done this swap!

Before Tippy went to portals he had an 80 series rear axle in his.

I think around 4 inches or so.

Peter Straub from Canada. You can find him on the LCML. I can't recall his email off hand. Something @prairiedogparts

BJ60 now on 53" Michelins and portals. He ran 80 series axles with a link sytem and coils at CM 02.

You will need the Downey Cable Locker for your diff.
Then you need the LandToy80 mod to make it work right.
You get a good complete hub to hub and we can trade :D

Ummmm, what are you talking about? Seriously!

:)

IF you are in MA then it will cost to much to ship BUT we could trade your actuator for the Downey Cable Locker.

I am sure there is a better way to seal the locker, I used a CV boot, ribon sealer and sealant.
Not pretty but keep the road salt out.
