I have a new halon "like" fire extinguisher that I want to mount just ahead of my driver's seat.

Will I hit any factory wires if I drill back into the vertical flat part directly behind the floormat? From underneath, all looks good, but I am wondering if I might hit a wire in this area? When I had my seat out, I seem to remember there were some wires in this area, but I thought they were more "up on the plateau", rather than on this wall.

Any help? Is it safe to drill? I plan to use some spacers that are just about as tall as the carpet, so it can be solid and not cut into the carpet.

Thanks!

The pick points to where I want to drill.

I know it's not what you asked...but before you mount that I'd consider going with a considerably larger unit.

I don't think wires would be the problem. The fuel tank might be more of an issue.

There is a riser that is spot welded to the floor pan. That is used to attach the seats to. Behind that is a single wire loom.

as long as you stay to the frontside of the edge your fine, but use shallow screws........Why not put it on the backside of the center console ? i have my streamlight and extinguisher on it along with 2 USB/12v plugs..... it does require taking the console out to get the bolts in as screws won't really work for the plastic but it's out of the way but wthin reach.... and it doesn't interfer with the seats folding or passengers feet.

Uh yeah, thanks, but I have to play what I'm dealt. :( It looked bigger in the pictures. But, it isn't how big it is, it's how much it sprays, right? This is Halon, not dry chem. I hope I never need it. I might put a bigger dry chem in the back to use on someone else's car, unless it's another LC.

The fuel tank was a long way away from this. The screws came out into a big open area underneath.

And that routes up from the door sill right behind that riser. I was able to feel it through the carpet, so thanks for the description.

The area I used looked like unused space to me. It's out of the way, and the seat won't hit it. My seat is about 3" further back than most. I didn't want to drag my heel across it getting in, so I like the small one.

I need to adjust the spacer height a bit, but it's okay for now. I had an extinguisher in the back; now I have one within 2 seconds, if I ever need it.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions. :wrench::wrench:
