If you have a manual, you shouldn't need a temperature sender for the fluid.

maybe your engine oil temp will be more interesting to measure.

Yes, that is what I'm considering now. What would be an alternative place instead of using the drain plug? I'm a little bit worried with the sensor sticking out the bottom of the car when off road driving...

I agree. I'd be curious to know the operating engine oil temperatures and how it fluctuates.

fluctuates a bunch .. usually I've seen max 140°F around the town with heavy traffic .. ( down here with 120°F outside ) but if you take HW it drops a bit to 120°F but if start raining it drops pretty fast under 100°F

for the tranny temp .. ? in auto tranny you said .. ?

I have an EMS1 kit to install as well, when I get an engine in, of course. I was thinking of hooking up the JDM reverse alarm (useless feature) to the speaker out of the unit. Do you think this would be possible? Easier to hear with music.....

Here is what I found on the Madman website, so yes, it should be possible.
Good luck, J.

Using the Aux / Alarm / Relay output (Alarm output)
This output has a dual function - in default mode it will enable a louder alarm buzzer to be fitted to the unit, however this output can also be used as a cooling fan control output or dual battery charge* output.

Sorry, I meant the drain plug of the engine oil.
J.

I have an aftermarket oil press sender, so I use a steel braided line from the factory oil press port and then usea T fitting to run my oil press and tranny temp at the same spot .. ( in my sign under Marilu thread there is a few pics )

Thanks J. Kinda off subject - but in the second pic from the top I noticed an OEM drawer below your single DIN stereo. Where do you find these?

It's not a drawer, but just a cover for the DIN slot. It was there when I bought the car.
I was planning to use that slot for the mounting of the EMS1, but it does not fit, it is too high.
Ciao, J.

Any progress here ?

I ended up not using the madman fittings but did my own, see pics. I recently added trans oil temp (last one I did not use) so I have all functions working, except for an oil level switch (would need a 1HZ sump for that)

Union for the trans sensor oil came from Wholesale Automatic Transmissions (I bought just the union)

Well, not much... for one reason that it's COLD and sometimes SNOWING in The Netherlands for over a month and I don't own a garage...
The other reason is that there seem to be two versions of the MADMAN EMS, one with internal Coolant Detection Level (white buttons) and one with an external CLD (blue buttons). I got the one with the external CLD, but I wanted the other one, so now I'm waiting until they have sent me the other one.
Can't do much without the device.
Keep you posted, J.

Just a quick update: They sent me the right version of the EMS-1 and I installed it in the console. At the end I decided to put it next to the gear lever. From there I led the wiring through an existing grommet (it's getting crowdy over there...). Then I found out that the 'long' wiring harness is no way long enough to reach all the senders and switches, so I will have to extend the wiring. So I will have to buy a 10-pins connector first
The rest (or at least a part) of the installation is planned for the beginning of May.
One other thing: the newer version of the EMS does not have the Inclinometer and artificial horizon standard anymore. It is only on special order. The madman website is already updated. Not that I need that feature. It will not work anyway if you install the device horizontally, as I did.
Keep you posted. J.

sorry for the bad Q of the pics: I took them with my BlackBerry and it seems I need to clean the lens...

Just finished the installation of the Coolant Level Detector and Coolant temperature. They both work fine.
We could not install the oil temperature sender, because the thread of the drain plug is different from what I receveived...
The turbo boost pressure sender still waits for a decent spot to be mounted, the EGT will have to wait until I will de-install the turbo etc any way, I'm too afraid of damaging anythingduring the installation.
J.
