Inspection Light Socket (12 Viewers)

I'm looking to install a socket in the glove box for the inspection light. Has anyone done this? Any tips or advice?

What year FJ40? Thought they all had the inspection light socket. Earlier 40s it was below glovebox on the firewall.

Did you check the wire harness behind the dash. Mine (‘75) socket opening was empty as well, but someone has just removed the two screws and the socket was dangling back in the wire harness mess behind the radio area. Worth a check if you haven’t, the wire is already connected to constant power and ground.
