Hello All, Looking for some guidance on how to fix my temperature gauge in the dash cluster. Sometimes it displays a -E for outside temp or some other whacky value. See pictures below. Does anyone know where the sensor is located so I can trace to and from to make sure there are no wire issues? This is on a 1992 FZJ75.

Hello,

The sensor is located in the lower part of the front grill, between the frame rails and the bumper.

It is either bad ground or loose contact.

Hope this helps.

So, found a two conductor cable that is severed, see picture. I have an ARB bumper mounted and the stock bumper as well but don’t see any sensor. Any chance any of you have a part number for the sensor?

Hello,

Apparently, somebody cut the sensor off when installing the bull bar.

The part number is 8221990K01. It is likely it is discontinued.

Hope this helps.

This is what the sensor should look like (1991 LJ78).

Super, thanks guys for the follow up information. I’ve confirmed sensor is available from several vendors in Japan so time to see if I need anything else to justify the shipping.

A temp sensor from 3rd gen Hilux surf or even aftermarket should work
