In this thread it might be a good thing to see if the stock LC gets better mileage than the lifted regeared big tired LC. Off hand I would expect the stock to be the winner in city stop and go, but in long distance open highway cruising do the big tires produce lower RPM and better mileage ?

due to the higher body the air drag will be greater so even if you did regear the milage will drop considerably...
want good milage then drive a civic...
cheers

buy a Prius ;)

No kidding. Surefire mod to get better MPG in your 80?:

Jack up the radiator cap and drive a Prius underneath. Lower radiator cap. It might not fit, so you can just discard it at this time.

Any more info on the petrol LPG conversion? Sounds interesting, I've heard about this and hydrogen engines a while back.

I myself am looking at the LPG conversion for my Gas car and the WVO for my Deisel. Unfortunately both conversions present the downside of difficult refills and we do refill more frequently than we like.

Thanks for your coments. Do you have any idea what mpg could be expected with the 1hz turbo/ intercooler into a 96 80 series with an auto tranny? What about with a 5 speed. Which 5-speed mates well to both? Thanks man.
