I just bought a 2005 Land Cruiser. Great shape with a few minor issues. When I turn the key off and remove it, the display does not turn off. When I reinsert the key, it will turn off. If I do not reinsert the key, the display will stay on indefinitely. Is this a problem with the ignition switch or the lock cylinder component. I doubt it is the key but open to suggestions. Has anyone else had this problem?

Clogged sunroof drain's and water is dripping into the computer behind the passenger kick panel.
I had the same problem.
Open door and instrument cluster went off, closed door and it came back on. HVAC fans stayed on. DRL's stayed on. Locked the doors and alarm would go off at random.
Only happend after rain or carwash. Once dried everything was fine.
No one knew anything. Zero ideas from anywhere. Bought a for sale sign. Spent hundreds replacing parts that were given as culprits. Original owner traded it in because of this issue.
Compressed air is the only way you can clear a clogged sunroof drain, weed whacker line is not stiff enough, it will bend.
Stick a air nozzle 2-3" into the drain line and use quick bursts of high pressure air.
Then flush with clean water. Then keep clean with clean water twice a year. Just pour a 20oz bottle of tap water down each drain.
If you do not have access to compressed air any mechaninc can do it for you for cash, takes them 5min.

Exiting the car and closing the door does not clear it. Will check out the drain and report back. Thanks for the recommendations.

Mine did all kids of weird things, just depended on how it felt, took a year to figure it out.
Tore apart the under hood fuse box, replaced alternator, battery, ignition switch, fuses, relays...couldn't lock it. Had to put it on the charger while at work and at home for the night. Couldn't trust it. Sometimes everything stayed live, sometimes not. Sometimes only some things stayed live and would go off when I opened the door and then be off. Sometimes not. Just depended on how it all felt.
There were zero signs of water inside the truck. None.
