Working on base lining my 1992 FJ80 and have been troubleshooting a random idle speed issue. After reading other posts on this subject I decided to pull the throttle body and give it a good cleaning. I also pulled the ISC valve and have performed the test as per the FSM (page FI-77).

My questions is this....when powering B1 & B2 then grounding S1 > S2 > S3 > S4 the ISC valve opens each time I ground one of the terminals except S2....nothing happens..I don't feel the coil energize at all. Same thing happens when I close the valve...nothing on S2.

Was just curious if others have performed this test remember is the valve moves each time it is energized. I am trying to determine if I need to replace the ISC valve or not.

Thanks for any insight.

They can get a dead spot in the drive motor which will prevent it from moving, if it happens to land in that particular spot. Although expensive, it would be best to replace it so as to not have it get stuck at a very high idle as I have seen.
