Oh, I guess so. :grinpimp:

Hmm, that's interesting; I can't edit my own posts so I'll have to add new posts.

Per Espressodan's suggestons:

Rio La Junta: Pick it up at Tres Ritos and it runs all the way North/Northeast to Hwy 434 just below Angel Fire.

USFS #87…pick it up near Cumbres/Hwy 17 and it rolls mostly east to Hwy 285 with forks here and there.

Costilla River trail: Not sure how much of this is open to motorized traffic; pick this trail, starts as an asphalt road, near Amailia on Hwy 196 just off of Hwy 522 north of Questa. Trail opens July 1…

Ouray

count me in for this one, might be able to make another too. I will watch for posts.

a few more...

Williams Creek Reservoir, Teal Campground, north of Pagosa Springs... pure camping goodness. Probably one of our favorite places. Would have to research for any trails.
San Juan National Forest Campgrounds scroll down to Teal. There are other campgrounds along the river south of the reservoir.

Trujillo Meadows, Rio Grande National Forest, north of Chama... Haven't been there yet but it was recommended by a relative.
Rio Grands National Forest Campgrounds

Quartz Creek Campground, northeast of Pagosa Springs... remote, no facilities. We enjoyed the absence of people! Kind of rough to get to if towing anything low. Great hiking nearby... Continental Divide Trail...
Pagosa Springs Off Road Trails - East Fork Road and Elwood Pass

Canjilon Lakes Campground, southeast of Tierra Amarilla... I haven't been there in a very long time but it was a nice camping area.

Carson National Forest Campgrounds scroll to Lower Canjilon Lake or Middle Canjilon Lake

Thanks Guy, good info. If anyone else has places they want to hit this camping/wheeling season, please feel free to post up.

None of these are wheeling trips but I'll probably still drive the LC to get there and back:

Mesa Verde Touring/Camping: Thurs - Sun in late Sept or early October

Conchas Lake Fishing/Camping - June 8-10 (Jigging for smallmouth, largemouth, crappie, walleye, white bass)

Potentials:

- Canyon de Chelly?

There was a club trip there about 8 years ago but I was out of town and couldn't make it. This is near the top of my list of places in the area that I want to see.

Any interest?

Early autumn might be a good time for a trip there. I might be interested. My summer is pretty full but not as much in early September or October.

sorry I didn't post it, but we went to the Jemez this week. I didn't post because we decided to only go Tues-Fri and move at least once. the camping spots were to be found randomly. we went in from Cuba and though fire restrictions were in effect for several areas (if not all), if wasn't dry on that side. lots of green, flowers and damp wood. we explored a few roads with very little use that would make great camping spots and some light wheeling. a chainsaw would be required. most of the side roads are being used by ATVs only. we camped 2 miles past San Gregorio Lake trail off FR70 and just off 70 on 104 almost where it meets 103. a deer almost walked right into camp last night.

My Cruiser gets here in the conjtainer from Australia on 21 Aug and I'd love to get a trip going right after. Does anyone have any plans for a run on the weekend of 25 or 26 Aug? I can't think of a better way to break my LX in to the wheeling up here than with a weekend away. I took it wheeling on the last weekend before I put it in the container and took lots of snaps - it's only fair that I do the same upon its arrival.

Cheers,

Josh

You can can check off HIR.

Still got couple of months left of this year, not too late to go south I suppose!

Lets go down to Caballo on the 27th. We need to finish that one.
I have a few guys ready to go on this run over on the FSB site

I'm bringing this thread up to top from 2012 as it has lots of good places to go check out.

@pappy - would you mind editing the title and remove "2012" so that the thread can be applicable for any and all years? I'm open to suggestions.
