Welcome to the board

Back when I was on the hunt for an 80, factory lockers were on the top of my must have list :)

I passed up over a hundred unlocked rigs before finally landing my minty locked 97 TLC

That being said, to be honest, I can't think of one single instance in all of my wheeling where I felt they were absolutely necessary :hmm:

In fact, the majority of the time they were used was just testing to keep them active or to show the function to someone who had no idea how lockers worked :meh:

This was almost 20 years ago

Today, clean rigs in general are getting harder and harder to find, let alone one that's locked

If I were on the hunt for one today, I'd focus more on one that's clean with good maintenance records and everything else would be secondary

I'll echo what others have said- focus on a clean vehicle you can build. Adding ARB Air or Eaton E-lockers is easy. The factory lockers have their own shortcomings, and altho they're cool...thats no reason to pass up an otherwise minty vehicle.

I've got my ARB lockers setup on a factory locker switch and they illuminate the factory locker lights in the cluster when engaged. Its damn close to the factory setup...and I have an onboard air compressor to air up tires and such.

be willing to pay a premium, look for something newer then 95, and consider the LX450. 80 series land cruiser in lexus trim. also check out the 80 series buyers guide by slee if you're ready to be overwhelmed with any thing you could ever need to know about the 80 series.

Good question

I'd take a well maintained high mileage rig over a beat low mileage rig any day

Half a million miles on mine and she still drives like new, but my buddy has one with only ~40k miles and it's just beat to $h!t o_O
I agree. Mileage is a metric, sure. But with the newest 80 series at 27 years old; even a zero miles garage stored on blocks beast will have deteriorated rubber.
I trust my 442k miles beast more than I would a new 250 because ALL the seals, bushings, etc are almost new (because of my major rebuild).

Here’s mine rebuilt axles 4.88s , new top end , clean as a whistle . 18k$

@ArmyVet Here’s a couple…I have no idea what your budget is or exactly what options you want.
