Tell her that them being with you in the first place was just so that you could raise them until they were ready to go to where they were meant to be. Then remind her how much of a help she is in getting that done. And maybe mention how dogs bring joy to so many people and now it's somebody else's turn, blah blah blah (not to downplay your emotions there, just assuming you know the rest). I'm sad for your loss but happy for the progress.

One of tbe huz 's friends is coming by tomorrow - older guy looking for a fishing companion. I'll probably try your version tomorrow. I think at heart she gets it-but my heart aches to shield her from loss. In my mind though-how great would life be, if this were the only occasion to experience loss?
Good God. onto other things!
I thought of you several times today John - missed you!

Well, we're down to Cygnus and Pollux..if youre in a crap mood and need a lift - see what the resident comedy puppy did here on youtube-it makes me laugh every!.single!time!

Mira is feeling better about the puppies - we let her choose which puppy she'd keep and somewhere a long the line she decided that Pollux was her choice.(maybe because we call him Jackson Bollocks) I wanted Cygnus..he's the most energetic happy one. For now we have the two pups and should someone we like show up in immediate need for a smart puppy - cool. If not, Im not minding two puppies (for now).. They keep each other busy

Amazingly they are quick to learn - we are down to ZERO inside accidents  Who knew?

Thanks for the moral support - especially he who suggested how to revive a puppy with the granny hoop shot thingy -(you saved Lucky's life, and in turn - she made two kids very happy this week!) Im too tired this second to go back and see who said it - but when it happened, I remembered it...and by less than two degrees of separation, a landcruiser saved a puppys life!

This is the best club ever.

That was Rice with the granny-swing puppy save. Brilliant advice. I definitely stored that away for some time in the future.

Good grief Charity. Here I am in the middle of a killer day of teaching and you had to go off and make it too dusty for me to see. That's about the coolest kindest honor I've ever had.

I'm sure the pups are going to pay it forward a thousand fold and each smiling face has you to thank for that.

Peace,
Rice

Glad I could be of assistance Rice - we all need those 'moments' when paying it forward shows our greater humane design.

Now if only Id met you at the show (or did I?:D)

Not being able to make the show is a disappointment I've had a hard time shedding. I had great hopes of scooping up puppies and making myself victim of a serious face licking. Duties required I get work done elsewhere. :frown:

There are many ONSC folks my wife and I are still eager to meet ... we've put your family tops on the list.

Ditto Rice!

Tomorrow I've gotta work for a couple hours and if the weather holds - we're introducing Pollux to Jane and then beach. Rob has High hopes for Pollux who has already learned "sit" and "come" - many years before I came along he had a Golden named Blaze that he used to take surfing and Blaze would ride his own board..I dont believe hes ever quite got over losing Blaze to cancer.
Anywho -I believe he intends the same for Pollux. God forbid Pollux doesn't like the water in THIS family Lol

Don't worry - pics to follow.

We've gotten pics from all adopted puppies and feel confident they've all gone to great homes. Cygnus is on a horse farm, Olive is with an older couple whose granddaughter likes dressing up dogs in baby clothes and Lucky & Freeborn are happy as heck with their kids. Pollux has been brooding since Cygnus left - but vet says he's healthy.

After numerous attempts to reach the owner of Tail Waggin Ranch - our patience has been met with rude accusations, obfuscation and general moronic midlevel management douchebaggery. I filed a complaint with BBB, and request that they pay the vet bills..not because we couldnt afford it - but because we never refused to pay for boarding and we trusted them with members of our family.

Well. I hardly know where to start. Our oldest dog Roxy has always been special. She has suffered seizures but they've never lasted long. Our vet has advised us that if seizures seemed worse or more often we would consider medication for her.

Tonight us my daughters band concert. We ran into town to get reeds. When she and I came back Roxy was seizing. I corraled Pollux and Bailey so she could be left alone to recover. I went to help the kid get ready for her performance. Needless to say Roxy seizure continued for 20 minutes. She got up in a post seizure state, stumbling and I gave her some water. She collapsed and began seizing again. I'd already called the vet..my huz is taking Roxy to the vet er while I pretend I'm excited about the concert. Keep your fingers crossed.

Charity,
We are waaay too familiar with seizure activity since ours 95lb shepherd/ lab mix has had them for 7 years. She's on a couple of types of medicine and will have seizures for days. Feel free to PM me with any questions. My first piece of advice is to try and get the vet to prescribe Zonisamide, instead of potassium bromide (which is typically the go to med). It's slightly more expensive, but the lasting side effects, including liver damage, are far less. Good luck.

Thanks Terry. I PM'd you - Rob took Roxy up and had her seen (still seizing pretty regularly) Vet shot Roxy up and did some bloodwork. Said that it was a grand mal that 'cascaded' . Sent her home with phenobarbitol and a scheduled regular vet visit. We should all hope to be so well medicated :D

PS - there was a young girl at the vet with her cat - Rob said he was waiting on the vet, Roxy seizing and some 20something kept leaning over giving him gratuitous looks down her shirt saying "you can tell a lot about a man by the way he handles his dog" You just cant make that kinda stuff up...LoL
