I am in need of a new Distributor, I would like a high performance one. I am running a Mallory Distributor now. My engine is a 2F block with a F head. Very strong. I love it. The only problem is that the Mallory's shaft that goes to the oil pump is just a hair to short. I am running a brand new factory Toyota oil pump. What are some of yall's thought on distributors?

I would go with one out of a fj60, Dizzy and coil the only mod you have to do is change over the side cover to clear the bigger dizzy.

I have 2 of those + cap and wires for one and the "dented" side cover...no coil/ignitor. PM me if interested. Your choices are many, but this is considered to be one of the best Toyota dizzies out there.
If you are desmogged, plan on spending another $100 or so to have JimC set it up for you. You will be pleased;)

Got a question for you. That is the one, the Mallory HEI dizzy, I plan on going with from MAF. What are your issues, before I shell out the $$$$? I don't see the componants moving, do you have no oil pressure or have you just read something? Thanks for the input, Eric:beer:

A good bang for the buck----->

eBay Motors: TOYOTA LANDCRUISER FJ40 2F F GM HEI Distributor FJ60 (item 370088477399 end time Jan-17-09 13:10:04 PST)

I installed an FJ60 ignition about 5 years ago, would do it again in a heartbeat.

Easy installation, factory Toyota, waterproof, maintenance free, ball bearing, vacuum advance.

For a F/2F, it's a difficult setup to beat.

Hey where in Ga. do you live? I live in Monroe. We need to get together.

I think this is the right cover? what do yall think?

And yes I know the fule pump is up side down. I just stuck it there with out bolting it in.

I am thinking that my cover can be used if I go with an FJ60 Distributor. Right?

That is not the dented cover and will not work with the "big cap" unless you "dent" it.

You can use an electronic distributor from a late model 40 without denting the cover, or replacing it. They are o-ring sealed, and vented just like the 60 series, but they fit with the standard cover.

The larger 60 distributor would theoretically be better from a performance perspective, but I doubt you'd ever notice it.

Edit: ...also, the late model 40's use the same electronic innards as the 60.

Here's a pic of the 60 side cover from an old desmog thread by Guyute:

Here's one showing the size difference:

I go to Ga Tech and am from just a few minutes north of downtown. I would like to get together but I'm leaving for Australia/NZ for 3 months this week. When I get back.

Since you're in Monroe- do you know a Jordan Rowe? He's a Jeep guy, but knows his stuff and I figure Monroe ain't that big.

Be careful oversea's and have fun. We will have to get together in a few months when you get back. Sorry but I don't know your friend. I am also a Jeep guy. And Monroe is that big town ! !
